Day 10 My Ikigai: Helping People Rise Above Themselves Reflecting on what work feels most meaningful to me, it isn’t just about the business I’ve built or the success I’ve experienced. While I love what I do and am deeply passionate about my business, true fulfillment comes from something even more profound: helping people—men and women—rise above themselves. Throughout my journey, I’ve discovered that nothing compares to the joy of seeing someone unlock their full potential. Being able to guide people as they break through their own self-imposed limitations, challenge old beliefs, and step into a more empowered version of themselves is incredibly rewarding. It’s not just about giving advice or sharing strategies; it’s about supporting them in rediscovering their inner strength, confidence, and unique power. Even in my business, I live out this passion. I’ve learned that something which might seem insignificant to others can be a huge, even traumatic experience for my clients. Understanding this and offering compassion through those moments is key. Sometimes, all someone really needs is for someone to just listen—to really listen. In those moments, being there for them, without judgment or interruption, can be a powerful catalyst for their transformation. We live in a world that can often make us doubt our worth or hold back from pursuing our dreams. But I believe in helping others push past that—whether they’re juggling multiple roles or facing internal struggles. Watching them thrive, succeed, and find their purpose gives my work meaning beyond measure. Helping others rise above themselves is what lights me up. It's the heart of why I do what I do, and I’m grateful every day to be a part of this transformation in their lives. #ikigaichallenge

This recognition is truly humbling, and I can only accept it on behalf of my incredible partners in crime: Anri Cotton (LIISA) Cotton, Vaughan Loots, and Megan S.. Without their dedication and hard work, this project would not have been possible. Being part of any charity project or organization is often overwhelming—who am I kidding, it's overwhelming most of the time. What we do is just a drop in the ocean, but imagine a world where everyone contributes just one drop. Thank you again for this unexpected award. I am a proud Lioness. Serving others is one of my greatest passions in life. 🌟 Attended an amazing motivational event where the legendary Bruce Fordyce, a nine-time Comrades Marathon winner (eight of those in a row!), was the speaker. Can you believe he's recovering from a knee operation from just 8 days ago? Talk about resilience! 🌟 Reflecting on my journey, I picked up some gems from Bruce:    "You've got this, china!" (Yes, we still say 'china' 😉)    "It might be tough, but you can do it."    "Never think you've arrived." "Vasbyt" As a businesswoman for the past 12 years, I sometimes find myself looking back, especially during tough times. It's necessary to see how far I've climbed my life's mountain. My two mentors—my dad and the late Gert van den Berg—taught me valuable lessons that have guided me along the way. I remember my dad comparing life to climbing a mountain, with rocks, snakes, and even the occasional predator. The key is to navigate these obstacles without losing your values. And then there's Gert van den Berg, who was with me on a drive to an important meeting when we were taking over a huge corporate account. I had no experience in corporate insurance, and Gert was already suffering from cancer. I felt overwhelmed and told him how much I still needed him to guide me through this unknown territory. Despite his illness, Gert had unwavering confidence in me and my potential. He told me to look back and to tell him what I saw. I saw nothing, and he explained it was just a speed bump. He assured me that a year from now, today’s challenges would seem like just another bump in the road. His words have stayed with me, helping me through many tough times.
