Surgical Treatment of Canine Hip Dysplasia... There are several surgical procedures available to treat hip dysplasia. Deciding to go the surgical route, however, should ideally be a last resort, but this depends on the severity of the dog’s dysplasia. The two most common surgical techniques for hip dysplasia are total hip replacement and femoral head/neck osteotomy (FHNO). There are other less common surgeries which may help, but the choice of surgery will depend on the age, condition, and lifestyle of the dog in question. Demonstrating these surgical options is made easier with Interactive Anatomy’s 3D canine hip joint models.
