    *Coca-Cola, one of the most recognizable brands in the world, still spends $4 billion a year on advertising. It's challenging as a media agency to gain buy-in from brands, and their finance teams, for strategies we know will work, simply because not every aspect of it can be measured on paper. Many brands focus solely on performance metrics, overlooking the critical importance of brand and trust building. Take Intrepid, not a local South African example, but a good one. They radically transformed their marketing strategy and increased revenue by 40%. In just 12 months, they skyrocketed from $370 million to $641 million in bookings revenue. Their Chief Customer Officer, Leigh Barnes, revealed that they shifted their budget split from 90% performance marketing to a 60:40 balance in favor of brand marketing. Their first global brand campaign in 35 years, 'Good Trips Only,' reached around 280 million people and significantly boosted their key metrics: - Brand awareness up 40% on average - Searches for ‘Intrepid’ up 55% - NPS up 9 points And revenue is up 20% so far in 2024. Leigh emphasized the “unintended happy consequences” of investing in brand, such as more B2B partnerships and increased employee pride in their work – impacts you won't see in the analytics but are undeniably significant. Brands need to remember they’re selling to humans. Building your brand the way some of the most successful companies in history have done can drive long-term success. Intrepid focused on their customers, saw an opportunity, and delivered exceptional results. Let's not forget the power of brand building in our pursuit of measurable performance.

    How to "sponsor rugby", without sponsoring rugby... We wanted to add another layer to our client Lula's OOH campaigns and position them with sporting events outside of TV. This was achieved by strategically placed dynamic content on game day, at bars and restaurants across South Africa filling up with supporters when the Boks opened up their first test against Wales.
