https://lnkd.in/djzDZmHM Historic Milestone at the Port of Cape Town! The Port of Cape Town recently welcomed the longest vessel ever to call at the Cape Town Container Terminal (CTCT) – the 348.5m MSC Ines! This achievement, surpassing the previous record of 336m, highlights the port’s dedication to evolving alongside the demands of global trade. With expert coordination led by Harbourmaster Captain Alex Miya, Deputy Captain Marcus Rammutloa, and pilot Captain Mthunzi Bota, five gantry cranes turned the MSC Ines in record time! MSC’s director of operations, Captain Ian Rosario, expressed appreciation for the port team, including Cape Town port manager Rajesh Dana, and emphasized the milestone's significance for South Africa’s competitiveness in international shipping. This success also marks MSC’s commitment to ensuring flexible deployment through simulation studies for handling ultra-large vessels under diverse sea conditions, carried out in collaboration with senior Cape Town pilots. As ports worldwide face increasing demands from mega-ships, this accomplishment places Cape Town as a leader in port adaptability, paving the way for future advances in marine logistics. #PortOfCapeTown #MSCInes #ShippingMilestone #CapeTownContainerTerminal #MegaShips #Freightnews #Nexlog

South Africa Gears Up for an Electric Vehicle Future President Cyril Ramaphosa sees a major opportunity in the global shift from Internal Combustion Engines to Electric Vehicles (EVs) for South African industrialization. Speaking at the South African Auto Week, he emphasized the importance of staying part of the global EV supply chain to position the country as a forward-thinking, green economy. This transition, while challenging, offers immense potential for South Africa to become a global automotive hub, especially within the African Continental Free Trade Area. The government is committed to collaborating with the automotive industry to drive sustainable practices, promote New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), and boost local production. With ongoing work in energy and logistics reforms, as well as the development of policies and incentives for EVs, South Africa is set to play a key role in shaping the future of green transportation. #ElectricVehicles #GreenEconomy #SouthAfricaAutomotive #SustainableFuture #SAIndustry #Nexlog #FreightForwardingCapeTown
