PROXA Australia has recently delivered another newly built Reverse Osmosis Plant (RO) to a client’s processing facility, based in Western Australia. The purpose of the RO Plant purchase was to increase water recovery from a first pass RO brine reject stream produced by an existing on-site RO Plant supplied by a competitor.   Based on the client’s project aims and objectives to operate the plant safely, effectively, and with as little operator intervention as possible, a best practice containerised brine treatment RO system was designed, built and delivered to site for the requested application and duty. To guarantee excellent water recovery, low operator attendance, and lower running expenses, PROXA has incorporated customised design characteristics.   Primary features include a stand-alone, 40-foot containerised brine RO water treatment plant with chemical dosing, a CIP system, extensive plant automation and instrumentation, and PLC/HMI interface. The plant was designed to produce high quality permeate water at a production rate of 650 m3/day, making it suitable for the supply of recovered water product. In the upcoming weeks, the brine RO plant will be site commissioned, and we look forward to a positive outcome. At PROXA, we are excited to help our local communities by providing training and employment opportunities to local unemployed people. Ten candidates make up our current 2023–2024 Learnership group. The candidates were recruited with assistance from the Thungela Social Development Committee.   After completing the practical on-site training, the Unit Standards will be facilitated. In the workplace, the students undergo assessments to ascertain their level of competency. The students fill out and submit their work for each Unit Standard as part of their practical work and evaluation.   The ten applicants have completed their medical exams and inductions and are ready for the practical requirements of the program. This year’s program follows on from a very successful Learnership program in 2022/23 where 8 candidates were introduced. Many of these candidates were offered permanent, full-time employment with PROXA, on completion of the course. We wish all of our 2024 candidates all the best!

Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink? Not anymore...   The Waterfront plans to commission a R184 million seawater desalination plant in the precinct in early 2024. The reverse-osmosis plant will enable the entire Waterfront to go off the water grid. At full capacity, it's set to provide between 3.5 million and 5 million litres of water per day, meaning that the risk of Day Zero, the acute water shortages experienced during the recent Cape Town drought - can never become an eventuality here. The advantages that a secure water supply will bring for tenants, residents and visitors join the benefits of an earlier investment in back-up in electricity generators to mitigate against loadshedding. Building this kind of resilience and providing certainty for business owners and citizens are all part of the Waterfront’s way of doing business.    Read more about this new investment in an off-grid future here: https://lnkd.in/dF9tiF5B #desalination #watersupply #offgrid #vandawaterfront
