The SAIV bursary programme aims to fund financially deserving students who are pursuing a career in property valuations. Albeit a small industry, the Institute is driving this great feat of keeping valuations on the map as an attractive career to venture into. We are proud to announce that Corne Louw, National Manager at DDP Property Valuation Experts has been secured as a speaker at SAIV’s annual MPRA webinar taking place on 31 October from 11h00 to 15h30. She will present on the topic; “The use of valuation rolls management systems by valuers and municipalities – the do’s and don’ts”. This year the MPRA webinar is taking on the theme of Compliant Municipal Valuation Roll Management and Corne will be joined by 3 other presenters on the programme, namely, Janet Channing, Steven Ngubeni, PhD and Peter Newmarch. Corne’s role at DDP sees her steering the company’s municipal valuation interest. She has 18 years of extensive experience in property valuations specialising in municipal rating and asset valuations. Her passion for real estate earned her a National and Advanced Diploma in Real Estate from UNISA and UJ, respectively. In 2021, she achieved her B.Com Hons in Property Valuation, receiving the prestigious Top Achiever Award. With a passion for continuous learning, Corné is currently pursuing her M.Com in Property Investment, where her dissertation will focus on industry-specific technological advancement through the deployment of artificial intelligence. The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) collaborated with the SAIV and other partners to host a 2-day course from 26 to 27 September 2024 in Nelspruit. SAIV Member and MD of MetGovis, Janet Channing lead the course as she unpacked various elements relating to “Understanding the role of the property valuer in local government, focusing on the valuer's function for compliance with the Municipal Property Rates Act.” We’d like to thank everyone that attended and wish them all the best as they progress their professional careers within the public sector with this valuable knowledge.

We are happy to announce that Dianne de Wet, President of the South African Institute of Valuers (SAIV), will be presenting at the V20 Valuation Summit which is taking place in Brazil from 30 September to 2 October 2024.
