The Southern African Society for Trenchless Technology

About us

Help us to uplift the economy, save costs, create employment, and provide a better quality of life (and water) for everyone! South Africa loses 37% of its water supply through leaking pipes. Trenchless Technology is the solution to rehabilitate our leaking pipe infrastructure, save costs, create massive new employment, and provide skills transfer and training. It can be used as a tool to provide economic growth. It enables you to replace and maintain old pipes and install new pipes in congested urban areas with minimal disruption. It has a reduced carbon and environmental footprint and is a "green" sustainable technology. It benefits society at large, reducing social costs, it eliminates many risks associated with open cut excavation and by-far reduces the amount of excavation needed to install or renovate pipes. Trenchless technology is a type of subsurface construction work that requires few trenches or no continuous trenches. It is a rapidly growing sector of the construction and civil engineering industry. It can be defined as “a family of methods, materials, and equipment capable of being used for the installation of new or replacement or rehabilitation of existing underground infrastructure with minimal disruption to surface traffic, business, and other activities.
