It is with much sadness that we say goodbye to Spencer Kerr and Dr Zonke Zungu (PhD) this month. Your dedication as Executive Chairs for the KZN and Western Cape Student Chapters did not go unnoticed, and we will be forever grateful for your contributions to the SIOPSA Community in your respective areas. #iopsych #iopimpact

I am proud to share that I was officially inducted to the Golden Key Southern Africa , University of Pretoria Chapter 🔑 forming a part of the top 15% in the field of Industrial and Organisational Psychology across the nation, this achievement holds a special place in my heart as it has not been a smooth path. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication that has gone into my academic and personal growth. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of my colleagues at the University of Pretoria Professional Service Department of Human Resources, my lecturers at UP Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, family, and friends. Membership unlocks a wealth of opportunities. This includes and is not limited to networking opportunities within a global pool of high achievers, applying for exclusive scholarships and awards, participation in leadership development programs, discounts to several platforms, and chances to give back to the community. Looking forward to my journey with Golden Key Southern Africa ⭐

The Equinox Social Dreaming Matrix is a reflective space in which dreams and associations are shared. The focus is on the dream and not the dreamer. The Spring Equinox marks day and night being most equal in the calendar year and serves as a metaphor for the unconscious and dreaming. The Equinox also marks the turning point at which the sun illuminates more of our waking lives. It is a transition point from Thanatos to Eros and forms an ancient natural cycle that connects us to the earth and to the stars. The Spring Equinox Social Dreaming Matrix provides an opportunity to connect and reflect with the unconscious, the earth, and the natural rhythm of life on a deeper level. SIOPSA Interest Group Systems Psychodynamics invites you to this complimentary online workshop to learn about dreams and free associations as way to access the unconscious, and to use these in sense making. More information and to register are available here: https://lnkd.in/dAeS2bhy Looking forward to seeing you. Tamsen Saayman Louise Tonelli PhD

Asking the right question is often the most powerful intervention we have. As someone who frequently engages in conversations about mental health, I often encounter the question: “Is it okay to directly ask someone at risk of suicide about their thoughts or plans?" The answer is yes, it is okay. Asking someone directly if they have thoughts of suicide can often bring relief and open a vital dialogue. A question like, "Have you ever thought about ending your life?" can be a powerful tool in starting this conversation. Avoiding conversations about suicide in the workplace is more dangerous than having them. As workplace wellbeing practitioners, let's work together to create a supportive and understanding community. #suicidesarepreventable #workplacecounseling #worldsuicidepreventionday2024 #SIOPSA #mentalhealthatwork
