📚 In a meaningful step toward healing, Stellenbosch University presented “Landscapes of Dispossession – Stories of Hardekraaltjie Cemetery as Told by People from Tiervlei-Ravensmead” to the Ravensmead community this week. The landmark book, part of SU's visual redress and restitution project, captures the untold stories of Hardekraaltjie Cemetery - where over 700 ancestors rest beneath the ground where SU’s Tygerberg Campus and Tygerberg Hospital are now situated. Through 29 moving accounts from descendants, it preserves the precious memories of the Tiervlei-Ravensmead community who were later displaced under apartheid. The university is ensuring these stories reach wider audiences by distributing copies to local libraries and schools. More than just a book - it's a bridge between past and present, recognizing a community whose history was nearly erased. Available now at local bookstores and jacana.co.za 🌱 Read more: https://lnkd.in/ddX_kEwx #HardekraaltjieCemetery #Tiervlei #Ravensmead #Heritage #Remembrance #Restitution #VisualRedress
