You need the support of a research supervisor - myself and Tobi Louw have some interesting research topics lined up, so feel free to contact us if you are interested in applying for this opportunity and enrolling at Stellenbosch University - Department of Chemical Engineering. Thaakira Jabaar, a master’s student at the Stellenbosch University - Department of Chemical Engineering, received the award for Best Oral Presentation at the Global Congress of Chemical Engineering (GCCE), which took place in Cape Town from 6-11 October 2024. Thaakira presented her master’s research titled "Decay factor characterisation of paper materials under optimal anaerobic conditions using bench- and pilot-scale reactor studies", within the environmental engineering category. The SU Department of Chemical Engineering is well-represented at the 2024 Global Congress of Chemical Engineering (GCCE) taking place in Cape Town from 6-11 October. The theme of the congress is "To Sustainability and Beyond." It's an excellent opportunity for our staff and students to engage with fellow experts and share their innovative research. We wish them an enjoyable and productive experience!

Cara (Broeksma) Haller, a PhD student in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Stellenbosch University, received the Young Author Award at the XXXI International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC), held from 29 September to 3 October 2024, in Washington, DC. The award recognises ten outstanding papers authored by researchers under the age of 35. The Department of Chemical Engineering extends its congratulations to Cara for this significant achievement.
