🍲💪 Our DO MORE Heroes have been busy making a difference! Over the past two weeks, they've been hands-on, helping their local ECD centres cook and serve nourishing meals to the little ones in their care. The meals, crafted from a recipe book developed by UNICEF and the Department of Health, are specifically designed to meet the unique needs of South Africa's young children. 🌍 Empowering ECD Centres to Champion Nutrition and Health for Young Children 🍎 As part of this year’s World Food Day campaign, we partnered with incredible organisations to host nutrition education sessions during the Young Child Forums in our 'deep dive' communities. These forums brought together ECD centre practitioners and cooks with nutrition and health experts from local hospitals, clinics, municipalities, and universities. The aim was to equip them with the knowledge to prepare balanced, nutritious meals for young children—both affordably and sustainably. 📍 From Bushbuckridge to Phongola, ECD practitioners learned practical tips like reducing oil in meals and improving their cooking methods for nutritious recipes such as chicken livers and sugar bean lentil stew. These hands-on sessions are helping to shape healthier futures for our children, one meal at a time. 🍽️ We're proud to see ECD centres becoming hubs of health and nutrition with the support of our partners, including Niya Consulting, LIMA Rural Development, and many more.
