We help teams get strategic initiatives over the line.

About us

At The OKR Group, we're passionate about strategy execution and driving impactful results. We get strategic initiatives over the line. The magic happens when purposeful teams operate within mindful processes, working together towards a common pursuit. There are frameworks that help - Objectives and Key Results is one of them. But frameworks will always serve the purpose of the organisation, and not the other way around. We partner with organisations to turn a strategic vision into reality by focusing on execution, ensuring that every initiative is aligned and actionable. Whether through advice or hands-on support, we help teams fry the big fish and tackle their biggest challenges. Ultimately, our success is measured by whether your strategy gets traction.

Trust has two sides – becoming trustworthy and trusting others. I can not trust a toddler (e.g., my son) with a task that he’s never done, such as handling our home’s finances, because he doesn’t yet have credibility in that area. Trust isn’t a blanket rule; it depends on the task, the individual's maturity, and the relationship background. But your trust in others has to be given; extend it before they’ve earned it. How do you approach trust in your organisation? Share your thoughts in the comments, and don’t forget to take this quick survey to see how trustworthy you are: https://bit.ly/478JOUp #Trust #Leadership #Trustworthiness #BuildingTrust #TrustInRelationships

Here’s a trust equation developed by David Maister.  Trust = Credibility + Reliability + Intimacy To build your trustworthiness, work on these four elements. 1. Credibility - Credibility is about your skills, competence and capabilities. It’s about what you know., your credentials. - The emotions: People would trust you if they can’t experience your expertise. They have to feel like they are in competent hands. 2. Reliability - Aligning your actions with your words. Can you set a goal and make a commitment? - The emotions: Others have to find us dependable. Reliability builds over time, as they witness how you consistently deliver on your word. 3. Intimacy - Intimacy is difficult to measure. It’s built through vulnerability, active listening, empathy, safety, honesty, transparency, and giving and receiving feedback. - To build intimacy, you need to build relationships. 4. Self-orientation - Self-orientation destroys trustworthiness. It occurs when there is a disproportionate focus on yourself and your own interests. - We fight self-orientation with kindness, appreciation, giving credit, recognising others, sacrificing time to grow them, and giving attention. #TrustBuilding #Leadership #Credibility #Reliability #TrustEquation #RelationshipBuilding

“Building trust” has become a worn-out phrase. However, its importance is anything but platitudinal. Leaders need to consider trust from two perspectives. 1.    Firstly, make it easy for others to trust you, to give their trust to you. Be trustworthy. 2.    Secondly, give trust to others; don’t wait for them to earn it. Be trusting. In effect, trust is given, not earned. It’s a choice. Is it a leader’s responsibility to create an environment without conflict? We don’t believe so. If truth is the intention, conflict is inevitable. Here’s how it works: -    To get to a more accurate reflection of reality, we need everyone to have a voice. -    Where everyone has a voice, people will differ. Disagreement is a strength in a team. -    Where people differ, conflict will arise. That tension, but more importantly, the ability to solve the tension, becomes the superpower. -    The more tension you solve, the more opportunities you create for more people to communicate, which leads to more collaboration. However, conflict without trust is disagreement, which is not helpful. Conflict with trust will lead to robust debate, and this is what we need. #Leadership #TeamDynamics #ConflictResolution #TrustInTeams #EffectiveLeadership

Studies show that multitasking can reduce productivity by up to 40%. The reason? It scatters our focus and dilutes our efforts. We often equate a packed schedule with high productivity, but how much of that busyness is truly effective? As Paul Barker points out: More options don’t lead to more happiness; they lead to decision fatigue and the constant search for something better, resulting in dissatisfaction. The same applies to our tasks. The more we try to juggle, the less satisfied and productive we become. Instead, what if we shifted our focus to fewer, more impactful tasks? #Productivity #Focus #Multitasking #WorkSmarter #Prioritisation

Helping ambitious leaders (and their teams) reach their goals

How often do we feel like we’re busy but not productive? Up to 40% of productivity is lost due to multitasking. It might feel like you’re getting more done, but in reality, you’re spreading your energy too thin. Jim Collins, in his book Good to Great, details a list of companies that have achieved “greatness”. Great companies, according to Collins, are companies with superior returns over a 40 year period. One of the secret sauces he outlines is the hedgehog concept. The source is from an ancient Greek parable: “The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing.” Great companies focus on the one big thing, and become the best in the world at that. More options don’t make us happier. Rather, it leads to decreased levels of well-being. Why? -- Opportunity cost: Because with more choices, we’re missing out on the options we can’t choose, creating an opportunity cost for choosing. -- Higher expectations: It raises our expectations for the option that we do end up choosing – because there are so many things, surely this one will be amazing! -- Adaption effect: And we get used to anything we choose, it becomes a new normal. This is the adaptation effect. The key to true productivity for companies, business units, departments and teams, is to concentrate efforts on fewer, more important tasks. What’s one task you can eliminate from your to-do list today to focus on what really matters? Comment below. #Productivity #TimeManagement #Focus #OKRs

It’s time to get ruthless prioritisation. Too many priorities split our focus and undermine any traction we hope to achieve. Prioritisation is one of the most critical competencies that a business leader needs to acquire. It's about knowing where to allocate their capacity, the capacity of those they lead and their organisation's resources. They have to decide what to do, but more importantly, what not to do. Focus is a choice. It's a conscious decision to devote time, skills, and resources to the few things that matter. And it needs to be done again and again. We work with ambitious leaders and their teams to get to their top priorities: https://bit.ly/3ANCfpQ #StrategyExecution #Leadership #BusinessGrowth #Focus #Prioritisation

Did you know that 87% of business strategies fail due to poor execution? The key to bridging the gap lies in rethinking how we approach outcomes and ownership. Outcomes: It’s not just about completing projects but achieving tangible results. When goals are clearly defined as outcomes, teams can align their daily actions with the broader strategy, turning vision into reality. Ownership: True ownership is more than autonomy, it’s about fostering accountability within a networked, collaborative team structure. When everyone is invested in the outcome, innovation and progress follow. A mindset shift can transform your strategy execution and drive lasting success #StrategyExecution #Leadership #BusinessGrowth #MindsetShift #StrategicPlanning

What do we do when we feel “lost”? When we’re faced with a business decision, and we simply don’t know what to do next? 1.    Keep moving. 2.    Don’t blame others. 3.    And keep moving. Wrong turns and dead ends are real – they feel like wasted energy. And it leads to conflict as someone “made a mistake” that led to a dead end. And conflict restricts progress. But you have to keep moving. Hold onto the railing and keep going, eventually you’ll get there. Momentum builds momentum. Often, just taking the next right step will create the momentum you need. Business is an adventure. Resolve the conflict and move on so that you can enjoy the adventure for what it is. #BusinessLeadership #DecisionMaking #MomentumMatters #BusinessGrowth #StrategicThinking
