WHAT IS THE INSPECTORATE? The inspectorate ensures legal compliance and quality of fire protection system installations through detailed professional inspection and validation regimes that meet with the requirements of ISO 17020:2012. WHAT IS THE HISTORY BEHIND THE INSPECTORATE? Since the birth of the Fire Engineers Association of South Africa in 2015, there has been a calling for an Inspection Body in the fire safety industry. As a result, a team of professionals took it upon themselves to create and develop the South African Inspectorate for Fire Protection for the betterment of the fire protection industry by certifying fire safety systems. This is the first of its kind for the country and will shape how the industry regulates fire compliance for many years to come. The inspectorate is finely managed in order to ensure impartiality and confidentiality at all times. WHO COMPILES INSPECTIONS? Inspections are carried out by competent fire protection systems inspectors. Such inspections are thoroughly audited and documented as per our mandate as a voluntary Inspection Body in the fire protection industry. WHO BENEFITS FROM INSPECTORATE? The inspectorate’s clientele are corporations who wish to have their or their fire protection systems compliant with the relevant specifications to which they were designed, and to issue audit reports, cost effective remedial solutions and ultimately, certification.
