Grateful for the wealth of knowledge and experience Robyn De Villiers brings to our team. 30+ years working across Africa and further afield, celebrating all that cultural diversity has to offer #sharing #payingforward #culture #diversity #inclusivity
This week I visited the Arcay Communications Africa/Burson-Marsteller Africa/BCW Africa/Burson Africa offices in Parktown, Johannesburg for the last time, given the company’s move to the new WPP Campus. It was quite something to reflect on the fact that I sat in an office – a number of different ones over the years – or in the open plan area, every week day and many weekend days from 1991 to 2021 - 30 years! I was there every day, except when I was traveling the continent. Founding and building the business, first in South Africa and then across 54 countries in Africa, was an amazing opportunity and a journey I will always cherish. Along the way, for the first 20+ years as an entrepreneur, and the final 10 as a corporate leader, I was accompanied by many exceptional people, too numerous for me to name, but you know who you are. A few, who must be named, and for whom I have the utmost respect and gratitude are Caroline Halton, Ruth Kolevsohn, Lyn Fourie, Bridget von Holdt, Karl Haechler and Lesley O'Connor. To my two most significant “bosses” in my final 10 years of corporate experience, Jeremy Galbraith and Scott Wilson, you allowed me to continue to nurture and grow our African business, our way, for which I thank you. To my partners across Africa, those now gone and those still with us, our African success story would not even have begun, without your loyalty and support – Bibi Shobanjo, Torgbor Mensah (Mr T), kwabena kugblenu, Desiree Gomes, Carole Muthaura, Liesl Williams, lionel Tousse, Caleb Owino, FCIM, Walter Wafula, Yasser Bagersh, Loula Zaklama, Sandy Rashad, ALEX AXIOTIS, Fatime-Zohra OUTAGHANI, Aisha Allee, Lekha Seebaluck, Gys Reitz, Tapuwa Nduku-Makurumure, Kwame Senou, and the former APRA President, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya (YBO), to name a key few. And finally, raising a glass to the late Harold Burson, who could name every country in Africa and, who went out of his way to welcome me and Arcay Communications Africa into the then Burson-Marsteller fold. Truly an icon of the PR industry. #legacy #growth #opportunities #experiences #partnerships #friendships #lifelonglearning #gratitude #proudlyafrican

Incredible client! The success of whose DEI efforts were clearly visible in each workshop. Adding the Cultural Competence lens is sure to embed inclusive leadership and behaviours even further. Thank you McDonald's South Africa for trusting The Three Cs and The Culture Map. We look forward to continuing this journey with you.
Wow! Just finished the initial rollout of our Building an Inclusive Workplace workshop using The Culture Map with McDonald's South Africa. It’s been so enlightening and such fun to work with the top 200 leaders. See you again soon! Robyn De Villiers

A huge thank you to Robyn De Villiers, the Founder of The Three Cs, for sharing with us her wisdom in this month's Question & Retain blog post! We posed the question: "Are soft skills the harder skills to master?" Her perspective is most illuminating.
Are soft skills the harder skills to master?
