Few species embody the beauty and danger of the ocean more than the devil firefish! ❤️🔥🌊 They have 18 venomous spines - the venom contains a mixture of protein, a neuromuscular toxin, and a neurotransmitter. Adults can manoeuvre themselves with precision to corner prey with their net-like fins. 🩵 Come visit our devil firefish this weekend!

The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation Turtle Conservation Centre partnered with Upwell Turtles to release 12 satellite-tagged loggerhead turtle hatchlings into the warm waters of iSimangaliso Wetland Park Marine Protected Area! 🐢🌊 Through innovative satellite tagging techniques, we are developing a deeper understanding of the early stages of turtles' lives (also known as the "lost years"). We are incredibly excited about this collaboration and its impact on turtle conservation efforts!📍🩵 We are also grateful to SAAMBR - The South African Association for Marine Biological Research, iSimangaliso Wetland Park, and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife for their support during the release. 💙 Thanks to FNB Care's generous support of the Turtle Conservation Centre, 10 of the released hatchlings are getting a second chance at life in the wild. Now more than ever, it is crucial that sustainable seafood practices are followed. 🐟🎣 More fish are now being caught than populations can replace through natural reproduction due to overfishing, while industrial methods such as bottom trawling and drift net fisheries are destroying delicate marine habitats like coral reefs and seagrass. 🪸 Learn how you can help here: https://lnkd.in/dpN6iCWX
