Stopping antiretroviral treatment when you are living with HIV can result in increased HIV transmission, illness, hospitalisation, and eventually death. To combat such disengagement with HIV treatment, Professor Graeme Meintjes and colleagues argue we need smarter differentiated care and better education of healthcare workers, people living with HIV, and communities. https://lnkd.in/e3Tb7bU6

As a faculty, we have inherited a distinguished legacy and multifaceted heritage, and each of us has a varied experience of that heritage which marks who we are and who we are constantly becoming. In this vein, the Faculty of Health Sciences has launched a project called Valuing Our Stories (Ons Wardeer Ons Stories; Simelana Nani) and has crafted a space on the website for it. The objective of this project is to build a digital collection of stories upon which our knowledge is created and recreated. You are all invited as members of the Faculty collaborative — staff or student, past or present — to express yourself in the form of video, writing, podcast or art. You are welcome to share difficult experiences of prejudice or moments of witnessing prejudice and having reflected on the impact at the time or in retrospect. View the Valuing Our Stories site today: https://lnkd.in/dsfKS8-5. Tell us your story: https://lnkd.in/dRraN87J. Please circulate this widely with friends, colleagues and classmates associated with the Faculty.

Funding is the lifeblood of research. Without it, researchers would be unable to achieve the groundbreaking discoveries UCT is known for. Mismanagement of research funds, especially from international funders with strict policies, can have serious consequences for both individual researchers and institutions. Fortunately, UCT’s Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) has an experienced research finance team that supports researchers through every step, from pre-award to post-award and project close-out. 👉https://bit.ly/3MPe9y4 This #ResearchAdministratorDay we take a moment to celebrate the excellent work of FHS Research Finance!
