The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is a signature effort to invest in and groom the next generation of result - orientated African leaders. The RLC-SA will develop the young African leaders in Business and Entrepreneurship Development; Civic Leadership; and Public Management and Governance through a hybrid of innovative and complimentary approaches that include contact sessions; online mentoring; online self-paced tuition; industry placements and experiential learning.

The fourth Innovation Challenge successfully attracted 20 innovative participants from Angola and Mozambique. These individuals convened in Luanda, Angola, this week, for the in-person segment of the program. Leaders have devoted time to project development, engaging in problem-solving techniques, solution design, and gaining insights into the needs and perspectives of their target audience. Employing Human-Centered Design and Design Thinking, they have diligently crafted innovative solutions and refined their concepts. With a solid foundation in place, the participants are well prepared to showcase their initiatives before a panel of judges this Friday. These Innovation Challenges aim to unite alumni from diverse cohorts, fostering networking opportunities, collaboration, and partnerships. During the opening ceremony, William Butterfield, Angola Country Representative at the US Embassy Luanda, and James McPherson, Public Affairs Officer from the US Embassy's Public Affairs Office, emphasized the significance of US government-funded exchange programs. They encouraged alumni to leverage their creativity, believe in their abilities, and engage in collaborative efforts to make a positive impact in Angola.
