About us
Young Leaders Connect ( YLC) is an initiative of IWFSA Leadership Development. IWFSA has a 6 pillar strategy; Members Affairs, Leadership Development, Funding and Sustainability, Advocacy, Stakeholder Management, Brand and Reputation. Leadership Development as one of the 6 pillar strategy, aims to develop and strengthen leadership capability of women leaders. Leadership development strategy is executed through the IWFSA leadership committee which also has four pillars being Self Development, Fellowship program, Young Leaders Connect and Conversation Series The YLC, is one of four pillars of Leadership Development Committee. The YLC has developed a program based on five Pillars of IDEAL. The programs developed under YLC are named IDEAL programs. There are four objectives being: 1. Mentorship 2. Entrepreneurship 3. Board Leadership 4. Conversations

But first - Baybeeee Life Changing Lerato made some TV and it was gooooodt! 😅👌🏾🙏🏽 Thank you eNCA for the opportunity to speak about our #ylcideal women’s months initiatives! 👌🏾 Indeed - this is about embracing the baton that has been passed onto us and running with it with intentionality! One realises you cannot drop the baton - it is important, it is critical that this gets handed over - in tact - to the next generation who will be able to run with this! 🥹 As the co-chairperson of Young Leaders Connect - IDEAL this baton was passed onto me almost 2 years ago, and my driver and my mission has truly been that I don’t want to drop this stick - I can’t drop this stick because if I do, so many people that are behind me, those that are in front of me will get pulled out of the race, this race of gender equality, equity and inclusion of women is a very long race. It is a long race that started many decades ago - it is a race that continues up until today. And while great and significant strides have been made - we still have a long way to go. So one realises that this is not about my feelings or my ego - it is about taking this baton that was handed over to me by CHARMAINE HOUVET and mam’ Tryphosa Ramano and making sure that those who come after me - can still continue with this race! 👏🏾🙌🏽 I was speaking about our Young Leaders Connect - IDEAL 4th Annual Leasership Summit and Awards that are taking place exactly a week away themed #empoweringthefuture ✨ This underscores our belief is saying - the actions we take today will play a role and determine the kind of future we have. It was Nelson Mandela who said “the youth of today are leaders of tomorrow” this deeply resonates with us as YLC! And the summit in a catalytic enabler of this belief - we want to unpack: 📌the role of youth in leadership 📌 the future of women in leadership 📌Just energy transition - sustainability 📌Digital transformation and innovation and tech 📌The township economy and many other topics that we will addressing in the day. Then our awards gives us a moment to pause and celebrate the contributions of women in society. This is a not only a moment of validation and affirmation - but it’s about amplification.
