Waste to Wonder Series: Recovered Building Material 🌱🏗️ Traditional building materials have a considerable environmental impact, contributing to resource depletion, high energy consumption, excessive waste generation, pollution, and a significant carbon footprint. While salvaging building materials for reuse in construction is a sustainable solution, it comes with its own challenges: - Time-consuming: Demolition and rebuilding take longer - Stringent material specifications - Requires ample storage and space But what more can we do with recovered building materials? 🤔 At Zero Waste Technologies (ZWT), we've been exploring innovative ways to repurpose inert materials like glass, ceramics, concrete, and bricks. These materials can be transformed into finishing products such as countertops, basins, and tiles, with nearly 60% alternative waste products. The result? A reduction in building waste, a reduction in carbon footprint and an increase in job creation in the process. ♻️💼 Sustainable solutions are not just about reusing materials, but rethinking how we integrate them into the entire building process. If you want to find out more, visit our website or come and visit us at the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) Convention in November! 🌍🏢 #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #WasteToEnergy #RecoveredMaterials #GreenBuilding

🌍 Waste to Wonder Series: Transforming Challenges into Solutions♻️ At Zero Waste Technologies, we were involved in a project addressing three of South Africa’s most pressing challenges - waste, carbon emissions, and unemployment - by developing an interconnected, circular chain of innovative waste solutions, addressing all three issues collectively. 🗑️ Waste—Repurposing waste into valuable resources, asubsequently landfill pressure and environmental impacts. 🌬️ Carbon Emissions—Reducing carbon emissions by using waste as a valuable resource in various products. 👩🔧 Unemployment—Creating new job opportunities and skills development for local communities through implementation of the above. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks of the "Waste to Wonder" series as we explore how this holistic approach can make a lasting impact. This is just the start of how we’re turning waste into a force for good. 💡 #WasteToWonder #Sustainability #Innovation #CircularEconomy #ZeroWaste #JobCreation

🌍 Zero Waste Technologies (ZWT) is proud to lead the way in sustainable innovation at the V&A Waterfront! 🚧♻️ ZWT was appointed by V&A Waterfront and Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator to explore the use of waste products in construction for the new temporary home of the Oranjezicht City Farm Market. This groundbreaking initiative incorporates RESIN8, a revolutionary building aggregate made from waste plastic, into the concrete slab—making it the first of its kind at the V&A Waterfront! By collaborating with CRDC SOUTH AFRICA, Omega Concrete, and Framecore (Pty) Ltd, 2.4 tons of waste plastic was integrated into the concrete, diverting the equivalent of 1.2 million chip packets from landfill! 🌿 The result? 💪 A concrete slab with 45MPa strength, exceeding the required standard, demonstrating that sustainable materials can meet the highest structural requirements. At ZWT, we believe in transforming waste into valuable resources and are committed to advancing the circular economy. This project not only showcases how innovative materials can support greener cities and sustainable communities, but it also highlights our role as leaders in the industry. Follow us to see how Zero Waste Technologies is redefining the future of waste solutions and construction.🌱🏗️ #ZeroWasteTechnologies #SustainableInnovation #CircularEconomy #WasteToResource #EcoFriendlyConstruction #RESIN8 #PlasticRecycling #SustainableDevelopment #BuildingTheFuture #GreenerCities
