This initiative is crucial in empowering girls through education, providing them with a modern and inspiring learning environment. Congratulations Tiyezye! Tiyezye Nyirenda is a seasoned Governance, WASH, and Fundraising Specialist at World Vision Zambia, with 18 years of experience promoting inclusion, social justice, and community empowerment. Her dedication to ensuring access to clean water, dignified sanitation, and good hygiene reflects her commitment to sustainable development and equity. Tiyezye's achievements have now earned her the distinction of being the only Zambian delegate selected for the Global Peace Summit New York 2024. The Global Peace Summit is an international event aimed at fostering peace, understanding, and collaboration among cultures, nations, and communities. It serves as a platform for emerging leaders and empowers youth with the tools to become champions of peace and transformation. Participants like Tiyezye gain the opportunity to connect with global leaders and activists, contributing to worldwide peacebuilding efforts. This summit unites experts, leaders, and changemakers to address critical global issues such as conflict resolution, social justice, environmental sustainability, and human rights. Tiyezye's participation not only emphasizes her commitment to promoting peace and equity but also provides a platform to explore how social accountability and WASH interventions can foster peace and resilience at the grassroots level.

Deep in Hankanga and Chibola villages lies a huge dam and a 20,000-litre tank providing sustainable water for animals and gardening. The dam in Hankanga, constructed between 2022 and 2023, made it possible for Melody to generate income through her garden. “These gardens are our only source of income right now for a person like me to feed and provide for my children’s school needs. I don't know what would have happened by now had this dam not been made to save us from this hunger crisis this year,” Melody, a mother of five children whose ages range from two to 15, says. https://bit.ly/3MhSi20

The devastating effects of El Niño have left many families struggling to survive, relying on piecework for their daily sustenance. For instance, Joyce and her granddaughter in Nyimba district have been hit hard, with their crops withering due to the prolonged dry spells.
