The 120MW Doornhoek Solar PV Project is set to bring sustainable energy to South Africa🌍 Located near Klerksdorp in the Northwest Province, this US$120 million project, awarded under Bid Window 6 of the REIPPPP, will generate 325GWh of clean electricity, power approximately 97,000 households, and offset 330,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually🌱 With commercial operations expected in December 2025, this will be AMEA Power’s first operational asset in South Africa, reinforcing our commitment to expanding renewable energy across the continent. We recently launched the construction on our 50MW Bondoukou Solar PV Plant in Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 Once operational, the project will provide 85GWh of clean energy, more than enough to power approximately 358,000 households and offset over 52,000 tonnes of carbon emissions. We are thrilled to share two major announcements from the Italy–UAE Business Forum in Rome, reinforcing our commitment to clean energy and sustainable development. AMEA Power has signed a strategic partnership with SACE, the Italian insurance-financial group, securing a commitment of up to $250 million for renewable energy, green hydrogen, green ammonia, water, and desalination projects. The agreement was signed by Alessandra Ricci, CEO of SACE, and Yousef Al Nowais, Board Member of AMEA Power, and was witnessed by the President of the United Arab Emirates, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Italian President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni. This collaboration aligns with Italy’s Mattei Plan, fostering sustainable energy solutions and economic development across Africa. AMEA Power has also signed an agreement with CDP Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) to accelerate green energy and sustainable infrastructure projects in Africa. We are excited to announce that we have signed Capacity Purchase Agreements (CPAs) with the Egyptian government to develop the first standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects with a total capacity of 1,500MWh in the country — a 500MWh BESS in Zafarana and 1,000MWh BESS in Benban. These projects will enhance grid stability and increase renewable energy integration. The agreements were signed by Eng. Mona Rizk, Chairperson of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), and Aqueel Bohra, CFA, Chief Investment Officer of AMEA Power, in the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Egypt’s Minister of Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Eng. Hamida El-Sanea, General Manager for Renewable Energy Private Sector for the EETC, and Ahmed Hafez, Manager for Business Development at AMEA Power.
