Khaled Al-Sabah spoke on a panel about key trends, opportunities, and risks affecting the investment landscape in the region today. The conference was attended by over 400 industry leaders and students from top US university programs. We thank the HBS MENA Club for inviting us to participate in this flagship event.

Our annual letter reflecting on 2023 and looking forward to the year ahead.
As we mark Badwa’s 13th anniversary, we are fortunate that our core markets are prosperous, but are heartbroken that other parts of the region are suffering. We wish everyone peace and happiness in 2024. Within the span of a month in 2023, Saudi Arabia won the contest to host Expo 2030 and emerged as the sole bidder to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup. And the Kingdom is just getting started. With the Saudi economic transformation well underway, we see strong tailwinds in our M&A advisory business, as sectoral leaders expand at home and abroad. While global M&A activity is at a 10-year low, Saudi M&A activity is up 10%. We have closed deals as large as $750 million and continue pursuing sizeable transactions that are in the interest of our clients. On the investments front, our first portfolio company, UAE-based Eyewa, is performing exceptionally well, and our pipeline includes opportunities that would give us exposure to favorable economic trends in the region. We could not be more excited about the year ahead.
