We are thrilled to reflect on the remarkable period of innovation that took place at Expand North Star from October 13th to October 16th, 2024! GIE Proudly spearheaded multiple innovative events and challenges, starting from the Government Industry Academia Hub in its 6th edition with +120 exhibitors from 13 Arab countries. For the first time, GIA Hub hosted 2 new Pavilions. The Egyptian pavilion, where the 13 Egyptian teams from challengers and startups exhibited their projects and ideas, with 5 teams from the Egypt IoT & AI Challenge, 6 teams from WE INNOVATE Hackathon, and 2 teams from the Fintech Challenge. The Second Pavilion was the Saudi Pavilion where the winners of the 2nd edition of Sehathon - صحةـثون Hackathon exhibited their projects. From October 13th to 16th, we gathered the most innovative minds at Deep Tech MEA, an initiative dedicated to accelerating the growth and impact of deep tech across the Middle East and Africa, proudly powered by GIE, showcasing a dynamic array of 20+ exhibitors, including industry leaders like Elaraby Group, Unity, MARSES Robotics , Significa Ventures, and IEEE Entrepreneurship. This year’s summit was a celebration of innovation and collaboration! Highlights included 8 high-caliber Deep Tech startups, 6+ International universities: Khalifa University, UCL, Ontario Tech University, University of Dubai, University of Waterloo, and The Johns Hopkins University, and 3 insightful panels on pivotal topics from semiconductor advancement through endowment to the journey from tech transfer to co-creation, featuring 20+ speakers from across the MENA region.
