Danish shipping giant A.P. Moller – Maersk has named its newest dual-fuel methanol containership, Adrian Maersk, at a ceremony held at APM Terminals Maasvlakte II in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The 16,000 TEU vessel is expected to serve the Asia-Mediterranean trade lane after its maiden voyage from Rotterdam, contributing to Maersk’s goal of achieving over 90% schedule reliability in its new East-West network. Stephanie Pullings Hart, Executive Vice President and COO at Nestlé, who served as the ship's godmother, highlighted Nestlé’s commitment to sustainability, noting that the company has already reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 20% ahead of its 2025 target. Nestlé ships all of its Maersk ocean cargo under the ECO Delivery Ocean product, which utilizes alternative fuels to cut emissions by over 80% compared to conventional fuels. Maersk’s Chief Commercial Officer, Karsten Kildahl, emphasized the urgent need for regulatory support from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to accelerate the adoption of low-emission fuels. The shipping giant is actively advancing its decarbonization strategy, signing newbuilding orders and time-charter contracts for dual-fuel vessels to align with its fleet renewal plan of approximately 160,000 TEUs per year. 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲, a Madrid-based LNG and renewable gases company, has commenced bio-LNG deliveries at the Port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, reinforcing its commitment to low-carbon energy solutions across Europe. Announced via social media on March 20, 2025, the milestone highlights Molgas' focus on competitive bio-LNG offerings and energy transition efforts. Initial deliveries began in January, with further shipments scheduled in the coming weeks. Leveraging the port as a key hub for FuelEU Maritime-compliant vessels, Molgas utilizes its Multi Truck to Ship (MTTS) process to deliver 200-300 tons of bio-LNG during vessel operations. Earlier this year, the company partnered with STX Group to supply 200 tonnes of bio-LNG to Furetank’s vessel, Fure Viken, marking its first mass-balanced bio-LNG bunker delivery in Norway.
