  • 🤝 Robosys Automation collaborates with University of Strathclyde in subsea neuromorphic object detection Robosys Automation, maritime autonomous solutions developer, and the UK’s University of Strathclyde have signed a Knowledge Exchange Agreement to support a new project which will explore underwater object detection using neuromorphic sensing. 🎯 Robosys Automation is collaborating with the University of Strathclyde’s Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering (NAOME) and NSSP (Neuromorphic Sensor Signal Processing) lab from Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), and will also fund the testing of the sensing technology for underwater object detection using novel technologies. The aim of the project is to develop the encoding mechanisms for multimodal data collected through neuromorphic sensors for underwater object detection. The challenges to underwater object detection include limited optical sensor visibility due to water turbidity and lack of light penetration, combined with interference due to environmental factors such as tides, temperatures and salinity, together with financial implications due to specialized equipment and increased maintenance frequency. The University of Strathclyde’s Dr. Chaitanya Patil, Lecturer in Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering is leading the pioneering project, working closely with the EEE Department’s NSSP lab Research Director, Dr. Gaetano Di Caterina. Dr Patil’s current research around intelligent marine systems utilizing advanced machine-learning methodologies lead him to develop the project focused on Neuromorphic sensor fusion for underwater object detection (SENSE) has been facilitated through EPSRC Grant reference EP/X525820/1. Dr Patil approached Robosys Automation due to the Company’s notable expertise and standing in the field of maritime navigation, autonomy and background in vision systems and associated algorithm development, in order to initiate a collaboration to help propel the research into neuromorphic systems. 🎤 Aditya N., Founder, CEO & CTO of Robosys Automation, comments, “We are delighted that Robosys Automation is collaborating with the University of Strathclyde in this exciting and ground-breaking project. As maritime industry innovators, the Robosys’ technical team continually explores novel methods of pushing the envelope. This project with the University demonstrates this, with change detection sensing working hand-in-hand with cooperative and competitive computation for perception and control, which will enable ever-increased learning and problem solving, being essential in the future of a safer, smarter and greener maritime.” 📃📷 Source: Robosys Automation #robosys #robosysautomation #strathclyde #unistrathclyde #subsea #neuromorphic #objectdetection #maritimeautonomy #massworldnews

🚢Hyarks Tackles USV Challenges to Deliver Market-Leading, Cost-Effective DP3 USV.   🎯Hyarks was born in Taiwan, which has proven to be one of the most difficult markets for several reasons. With high local content requirements significantly increasing the cost of OWFs to environmental conditions that are far from being ideal, typhoons, and barely 6-8 hours of ROV operations per day due to high currents, and… many many … fish nets that get tangled everywhere.   H-1 is the response to all of those challenges - it is DP3, it can maintain station keeping in up to BF11 and can navigate in any sea state. It can carry up to 5 tons and power up to 80kW of payload, deploys a work-class ROV, has a range of 10,800 Nm @5 knots, or it can do 50 days of ROV operations. With an exchangeable diesel/LH2 powertrain, it can be mobilized worldwide in 40ft containers, and is currently being certified to quantify its probability of failure, systematically and reliably.   Hyark's doesn’t sell but rents the H-1, starting from a bit more than US$2,000 per day. 💵   The H-1 is not just a USV, it is a platform that unlocks simultaneous multipurpose operations, allowing Hyarks to provide OWF services in a completely different way.   Hyarks stand out as being not just USV developers, but service providers that use in-house developed technology to offer the most competitive services.   Working with leading offshore wind developers, over the past few months, Hyarks have developed a different approach towards the inspection and maintenance of OWFs that significantly reduces costs, increases awareness and availability, all while generating more quantifiable, meaningful data. This data allows the generation of predictive maintenance models, and enables a different financial model towards the operation of offshore wind farms.   🗒️📸: Hyarks #USV #UnmannedVessels #OffshoreWindFarms #AutonomousShips #MarineTechnology #OffshoreOperations #TechInnovation #Hyarks

🤝SeaTrac Systems, Inc. and Sonardyne International Ltd Trailblaze Remote Ocean Data Collection with Solar-Powered USV in Gulf of Mexico. 🌊   🎯A number of Sonardyne Origin 65 Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) and Current Pressure Inverted Echo Sounders (CPIES) are currently on the seabed in the Gulf of Mexico gathering long term data on the Loop Current System (LCS).     SeaTrac recently launched its SP-48 USV from the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) in Cocodrie, LA, and remotely piloted it 580 nautical miles with an HPT 7000L transceiver onboard to acoustically gather the data from the ADCPs and CPIES.     The use of the solar and battery powered USV reduced the environmental impact and cost of sending a crewed vessel for the mission whilst allowing for 24hr operations with no manual intervention or personnel onboard.    🎤 Aidan Thorn, Business Development Manager for Marine Robotics at Sonardyne, comments: “The use of a fully solar powered USV for a data gathering operation of this scale is a key moment in marine robotics. USVs are a great platform for collecting data from our seabed nodes and profilers through the integration of our acoustic communication technologies. We look forward to continued work with SeaTrac on this project and hopefully many others.”   Three further sets of data will be gathered over the next 18 months using the same uncrewed methods before the project completes.    🎤 Hobie Boeschenstein, Director of Operations and Business Development, at SeaTrac says, “We’re delighted to work with Sonardyne on this project. Our SP-48 USV provides a complete system for maritime observation, data collection and reconnaissance. Powered by the sun with high-reserve batteries, it can operate in both near-shore and offshore environments through varying weather and sea conditions, as this mission has demonstrated. It can undertake missions lasting from several hours to several months and is designed to support a wide range of customer payloads.”    📃📷 Source: SeaTrac Systems, Inc. #USV #OceanTech #Sustainability #GulfOfMexico
