We're proud to share some key highlights from the recent four-day Endurance Trial, marking a significant milestone in the Patrol Boat Autonomy Trial (PBAT). From April 16th to 19th, the decommissioned Armidale-class Patrol Boat 'Sentinel' navigated autonomously from Cape Naturaliste to Geraldton and back, covering over 1,300 kilometers. Equipped with our maritime autonomy software, GAMA, the Sentinel demonstrated faultless autonomous capabilities, handling all navigation tasks and executing close to 150 autonomous avoidance maneuvers, ensuring a safe and efficient journey. Our collaboration with Austal Australia, Trusted Autonomous Systems, and crew from INTERNATIONAL MARITIME SERVICES showcased how integrating specialised SME expertise with proven platforms can achieve extraordinary capabilities rapidly. This project has shown that the technology is ready to provide immediate benefits to vessel operators and capability managers. By reducing crewing requirements and enhancing operational efficiency, we're enabling the maritime industry to do more with less. Special thanks to our dedicated PBAT team and partners who made this achievement possible. The success of this trial underscores the future of optionally crewed vessels for the Royal Australian Navy and the wider maritime industry. #greenroomrobotics #austalaustralia #trustedautonomoussystems #ausnavy #patrolboat #autonomy #patrolboatautonomytrial #PBAT

In the lead up to the Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) Conference (IODS) in Perth, Western Australia the Patrol Boat Autonomy Trial #team is pleased to release a new video that highlights the success of the four-day endurance trial, completed in April 2024. Austal Australia, Greenroom Robotics and Trusted Autonomous Systems, together with the crew from International Maritime Services completed a series of tests on remote and autonomous operations, over an extended period of time on ‘Sentinel’, a decommissioned Armidale-class Patrol Boat, off the coast of Western Australia. Designed to test the reliability of, and build trust in the vessel’s autonomous systems, the endurance trial included a number of collision avoidance events that demonstrated the capabilities of the platform and navigation programs that may help deliver optionally crewed vessels for the Royal Australian Navy in the future. To learn more, or meet some of the PBAT team, visit the Austal stand (A-10) at IODS 2024 from 24 – 26 July 2024. What if maritime surveillance could run 24/7 without the need for human intervention? 🌊📷      From human trafficking to smuggling, the threats in our oceans are evolving faster than traditional methods can handle. The vast scale of maritime territories, combined with limited resources, makes continuous monitoring a challenge.      Autonomous systems, like GAMA, offer a resilient and scalable solution by creating a unified network of vessels that work seamlessly together to provide uninterrupted coverage across critical maritime areas.      Want to know how autonomy is shaping the future of maritime surveillance? New Species Uncovered! 🔎🐙 One of our industry partners, Inkfish, a marine organisation providing vital support and services to researchers across all depths of the ocean, has made a remarkable discovery—a new species of octopus found during a biodiversity survey of the Tonga Trench. Inkfish conducted this mission using Triton Submarines LLC's DSV Bakunawa, a submersible that Greenroom Robotics has longstanding familiarity with. In 2021, our team provided project management, engineering services, and big data management during a major refit. More recently, we integrated the latest version of our MarOps system to support advanced planning, data collection and data analysis for these important missions. By supporting their work, we’re helping to achieve our mission of making safer and cleaner oceans through the ethical application of Robotics, Autonomous Systems, and AI. We’re proud to support these advancements alongside such dedicated partners. #maritime #data #marinescience

Graduate Robotics Engineer @ Greenroom Robotics | Developing Maritime Software & Autonomy

I am honoured, and frankly still quite shocked to announce that last night I was selected as the winner of the Engineers Australia Engineering Student of the Year Award for the Sydney division. I am truly humbled to be accepting this award for the work completed for my Honours Thesis last year. Now yesterday evening I was asked to say a few words on stage when receiving the award. I had little expectation of winning let alone having to speak, so I promptly forgot to thank any of the various people who were instrumental in helping me achieve what I did. So I'm going to thank them now. I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to the University of Technology Sydney for nominating me and providing a brilliant ecosystem for learning. Thank you to my Thesis supervisors Professor Sarath Kodagoda and Dr. Karthick Thiyagarajan for guiding me and sharing their years of skills and experience. Of course thank you to Engineers Australia for putting on a wonderful event and selecting me for this award. Lastly I wanted to thank my wonderful partner Brittany Edwards, and my parents Greg Jewiss and Anne Jewiss who have always been immensely supportive in any of my endeavours. For anyone who is interested in learning more about my thesis, it is open source and available on my GitHub https://lnkd.in/gmuVkEUV
