🎙️ Mental Health is a Fundamental Human Right 🧠 On 'the mentl space: live' podcast, as part of mentl’s Tear Away The Silence campaign, we had the privilege of speaking with HE Maqsoud Kruse, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Institution UAE. We explored a crucial question: What are the UAE's priorities when it comes to human rights? HE Maqsoud highlighted four key strategic directives, including the UAE’s focus on mental health as a fundamental human right. In 2023, while the world championed mental health within the human rights agenda, the UAE took decisive action ensuring equal access, privacy, and the fight against stigma. Mental health is not a privilege—it is a right. And it’s time we ensure that right is upheld for all, in our communities and in our workplaces. 🎧 Click the link in the comments to listen or watch the full conversation on the mentl space podcast as part of our Tear Away The Silence campaign, supported by Viatris. #TearAwayTheSilence #MentalHealthMatters #HumanRights #UAE #TheMentlSpace

"What is the alternative to me doing this? It's to die." Can having a purpose save your life? Steve Ashby, who is living with stage four prostate cancer, certainly believes so with his mission to inspire one million men to get a PSA test for prostate cancer. "It's enlightened self-interest," half jokes the resilient health campaigner. Click the links in the comments to watch more of this conversation which dives into the power of positive mental attitude. And men, also learn how you can book your private NON-invasive PSA blood test in the privacy of your own home today (just see the links in the comments). #positivity #mentalhealth #positivementalhealth #prostatecancer #cancer #cancersurvivor

"There are men dying in the dark." Not because there’s no treatment. Not because there’s no hope. But because they’re too afraid to talk. In my latest conversation on the mentl space (Episode 60), Steve Ashby shared the truth he sees around prostate cancer, with men going through chemo without telling their wives, pretending they’re on business trips. Others suffer in silence, refusing to seek help until it’s too late. His mission is prostate cancer, but we could just as easily be talking about mental health. 🚨 This has to change. 🚨 Steve, diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, is on a mission to break the stigma around men’s health and save 1 million lives through early PSA testing. A simple test could mean the difference between life and death. But first, we need to start the conversation. Click the link in the comments to learn how you can access a non-invasive PSA test (literally a blood test) in the privacy of your own home with a discounted rate. 🎧 Listen to this powerful episode now 💬 If this post reaches just one man who gets tested because of it, it’s worth it. Let’s talk about prostate cancer, let's talk about mental health. Let’s act. Let’s save lives. "I spent two days numb. Then I lay on the floor and bawled my eyes out." Imagine being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. How would you react? How would you pick yourself up mentally and physically? "And then, I thought—I'll look for a support group. I couldn't find one. So I made my own." – Steve Ashby In August last year, Steve received news that would shake anyone to their core: Stage 4 prostate cancer. But instead of staying down, he rose. 💡 In just three weeks, he launched Rise, a movement to break the stigma around prostate cancer and save lives through early detection. His mission? ➡️ Get 1 million men to take a simple PSA test. ➡️ Start conversations that men are too often afraid to have. ➡️ Prove that positive mental attitude can be a lifesaver and action can change everything. 🎧 This is one of the most powerful conversations we’ve had on 'the mentl space'. If you’re a man, or you love one, this is a must-listen. 📲 Watch the full episode by clicking on the link in the comments. “I fear discussing mental health will impact my career’. Do you feel this way? Well, a third of professionals who responded in the 2024 PRCA MENA Mental Health Report felt the same. That’s why powerful conversations on mental health in the marketing communications industry are happening. Last week, three leading industry bodies The Marketing Society, PRCA MENA, and MEPRA Middle East Public Relations Association plus mentl came together to tackle the challenges the industry faces, and we are now working together with the next generation to drive real change. As part of The Marketing Society Scholarship, we are supporting their significant initiative focused on mental health in the workplace. The purpose of the project is to challenge teams in the scholarship programme to develop a ‘Charter for Mental Health in the Workplace’. Let’s support each other and prioritize well-being. Together we thrive as we always say at mentl #MentalHealthAtWork #MarketingCommunications #StrongerTogether #WellbeingMatters #PRCAMENA #mentalhealth #wellbeingatwork

“Suck it up, man up, it’s not that bad, stop whining!” Why is it that as people we’re often told to minimise what it going on inside, what we're living through, told to bury it, no matter what the harm it does to ourselves? Dr. Thoraiya Kanafani, a renowned clinical psychologist, joined our #TearAwayTheSilence campaign to deliver an important message: being vulnerable is not a weakness — but something to be proud of. Opening up about your mental health, asking for help, and sharing your struggles are acts of courage that inspire growth, healing, and connection. Can we embrace vulnerability as a strength? If we can then we can create spaces where people feel safe to be their authentic selves. 🎥 Watch her inspiring thoughts in the latest episode by clicking the link in the comments.. 💬 Let’s talk: What does vulnerability mean to you, and how has it shaped your journey? Share your thoughts below. Together, let’s break the stigma, build compassion, and celebrate the courage it takes to be human. #MentalHealth #TearAwayTheSilence #Vulnerability #Wellbeing #ClinicalPsychology #WorkplaceWellness #empathy #psychology Sam Laidlow Dr. Elie Abirached

He’s breaking records and breaking the silence 💥 We’re proud that Sam Laidlow, the youngest Ironman World Champion in history, joined our hashtag #TearAwayTheSilence campaign. Behind every champion’s finish line is a mental health journey that often goes unseen. In this powerful bonus episode of our mentl space #podcast, Sam opens up about the pressures of elite performance, the inner battles that come with chasing greatness, and how he’s learned that mental strength isn’t about being invincible — it’s about being human. His story is a reminder that no matter how "strong" you seem on the outside, it’s OK to ask for support. Strength comes from facing, and talking about your fears, not hiding them. 🎥 Click the links in the comments to watch or listen to the full episode 💬 Join the conversation — What does mental strength mean to you? “It’s not weakness to ask for help — it’s courage." That was the message from one of the fittest men on the planet, as mentl’s Tear Away The Silence campaign took to the stage at a major sporting event in Dubai. As part of the ongoing campaign an inspiring conversation unfolded with a powerhouse panel featuring World Ironman Champion Sam Laidlow, clinical psychologist Dr. Thoraiya Kanafani (Dr. T), and longevity and nutrition expert Dr. Elie Abirached. The panel delved into the heart of mental health, offering poignant reflections on resilience, vulnerability, and the critical role of community. Sam Laidlow, the youngest Ironman World Champion in history, shared his deeply personal journey of highs and lows, emphasizing that mental health is not just an athlete's secret weapon — it's everyone's superpower. Speaking on his struggles with post-victory clarity and self-doubt, Laidlow underscored the value of openness, stating, "I think as athletes, people see us as superheroes. But it's very important to be relatable and human. It’s not weakness to ask for help — it’s courage." The conversation was recorded in front of a live audience at the T100 / The Music Run™ event staged for thousands of people at the Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. The full panel is now available as a bonus episode of ‘the mentl space’ on all leading podcast platforms, and on mentl’s YouTube channel.
