AI is causing a huge issue for #carbonemissions. Google's GHG's jumped by 48%, and by 30% for Microsoft, both attributed to AI. Yet they are still sticking to net-zero by 2030, but it feels lile these goals are simply platitudes which will never realistically be met. According to Accenture 34% of the world's largest companies are now committed to Net Zero, yet 93% will fail to achieve these goals unless they double the pace of emissions reduction, as opposed to increasing by 48% at Google. It's time to pull businesses up on #NetZeroGreenwashing.

Great news yesterday with the EU Restoration law being voted in favour with €100 billion to restore nature by 2050 being agreed. Restoration targets include: ·     Restoration of peatlands, forests and marine habitats ·     No net loss of urban green spaces by 2030 and 10% tree cover in cities by 2050 ·     Reversing decline of pollinators by 2030 ·     Restoration of soils, grassland, butterflies and farmland birds Well done to #RestoreNature coalition and for Austria in changing its mind to saying yes to the European Council. I lectured to MBA students from Louisiana State University and Heidelberg University on Monday and it's always interesting to see which elements of ESG land. For them, the societal impact was something they hadn't considered as much, but this is no surprise as the 'E' often takes the share of the ESG spotlight. World Ocean Day 2024 aims to catalyze actions for our world and climate through transformative collaboration, creating a healthy blue planet that is essential to fighting the climate crises and creating a more just, equitable and sustainable society.
