Our team has been visiting media events once again and Namibia was the destinationthis time ! Last week we were at the Broadcast and Digital Media Convention, hosted by Namibia Broadcast Corporation (NBC) and convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) and the South African Broadcasters Association (SABA).  This year's theme was, “Broadcasting and Content Publishing In The AI Infused Digital Ecosystem”, with talks and events focused on this important issue that is dominating headlines today.  Our Africa Distribution Lead, Alex Kobia made a brief presentation on Viory, highlighting our use of AI technologies for news verification, as well as discussing our operations in MENA, and our unique focus on delivering content to and from the Global South. The event was a great chance to meet our colleagues across Africa and get the latest updates on the current trends and issues facing news in this region. It’s the season for major media events. Whilst members of the team were attending the Asia Media Summit last week, members of our Africa and MENA team were attending the 15th African Union of Broadcasting General Assembly in sunny Botswana. The Viory team, led by Alex Kobia and 𝕾𝖆𝖍𝖆𝖗 𝖋𝖆𝖉𝖍𝖑𝖔𝖚𝖓 ୬⚡️had a great time getting the latest updates from the sector and meeting with partners, clients and colleagues. We look forward to the next assembly. While there, the team was also able to catch up with our colleagues at Botswana TV and Radio National. They were kind enough to give Alex and Sahar a behind-the-scenes look at their modern newsroom and broadcasting facilities. Photos from both the event and our visit are below!

That’s a wrap on the Asia Media Summit 2024! It’s been an incredibly exciting and energising few days with many conversations with partners, clients and colleagues from all over the region. The Viory team have had a great time participating in talks, conducting masterclasses and even receiving an #award! We were delighted to receive an Appreciation Award from Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) presented by Fahmi Fadzil the Minister of Communication for Malaysia and the Head of the AIBD,  philomena gnanapragasam. A big thank you to them, the organisers and everyone who attended. Next stop for the Viory events team is the Broadcast and Digital Media Convention Africa 2024 in Namibia in October!

Today is the final day of Asia Media Summit 2024! Come by and say hello to the team if you are attending. Yesterday our Asia Region Head, Eduard Chizhikov took part in a stimulating panel discussion titled AI: #Technology, Trust, and #Transformation. They covered areas such as the future of broadcasting and what AI could mean for the news landscape. Trust and reliability were central to the conversation, which is why we have our Viory Verification Team working around the clock to ensure our clients can rely on our content. We are watching this space closely and are constantly looking at ways to safely and securely integrate new technologies like #AI into our work to improve the quality and speed of our content. We are participating in the 19th Asia Media Summit run by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development in the glorious Kuala Lumpur. On the first day of this important #conference our verification expert Marie Sakellariou led a masterclass with journalists from the region delving into the details of how Viory’s Verification Team ensures the integrity of our footage. Participants gained insights on how we verify footage from the field and first-hand experience with the techniques they can use to ensure the trustworthiness of the content they use in their reporting. We’re honoured to be at one of the largest events of this kind for #media in the region and we have a whole host of activities planned whilst at the conference. Today concludes our mini-series of free workshops that we have been running with the African Union of Broadcasting. The three online sessions broke down our in-house verification processes, giving the participants the tools and tips they need to authenticate footage and spot #fakenews. Each session was delivered by team members from our in-house verification unit, with direct field experience in authenticating and verifying video news. Each workshop has been rewarding and it’s a privilege to connect with fellow international colleagues and share our expertise. This is all part of Viory’s mission to share resources and knowledge across the Global South to improve the international media landscape and stop the spread of fake news. Today marked the closing day of CABSAT 2024, the Middle East’s leading event for content #media and entertainment. Several members from across the Viory team have been at Dubai’s World Trade Centre for the #event, meeting partners in the sector and attending the inspiring talks. Our Africa Distribution Lead Alex Kobia and our Visual Director Alex Dunasovs, both attended and participated in the African Union Summit on AI in Cameroon this week. Alex Kobia contributed to a lively discussion on #AI and its potential uses across the news #media landscape, while Alex Dunasovs hosted a Viory #masterclass on March 6th, where he delved deeper into the real-life application of AI within the #broadcasting environment. It was a privilege to be part of these stimulating conversations on how this emerging technology could and is being applied to news broadcasting in #Africa.
