The Angola Sovereign Wealth Fund (FSDEA) has officially signed an agreement with DeltaGest Capital, SGOIC to launch a landmark pharmaceutical project in Huambo Province. The agreement was signed by Armando Manuel, Chairman of FSDEA, and João Santos, Chairman of DeltaGest Capital. The signing ceremony, held on 18 October at FSDEA headquarters in Luanda, was attended by FSDEA Board Members and representatives from DeltaGest Capital. With an initial investment of €6 million, this project will establish a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical factory, set to be an important contribution to Angola’s healthcare landscape. This Monday, 21 October, we will officially break ground in Huambo to mark the start of construction. The groundbreaking ceremony is a major milestone, signaling the beginning of work on a facility that will produce vital medicines for the nation and the region. We are proud to lead this effort, which will cover around 2% of the national demand for pharmaceuticals. Angolan Sovereign Wealth Fund backs new investment into BFA Asset Management's Kimbo Fund.   On 29th of August 2024, the Angola Sovereign Wealth Fund (FSDEA) Fundo Soberano de Angola-FSDEA formalized its entry as an anchor investor in the Kimbo Fund – Angola’s debut private debt fund managed by BFA Asset Management (BFAAM), with an equity investment of USD 5 million. Kimbo Fund aims to invest in the debt components of the capital structure of businesses led by young people and women, with high growth potential that generate income and are tackling key challenges in the local market aligned with the national economic diversification programme, including downstream agribusiness and logistics. This FSDEA’s anchor commitment is expected to also help BFAAM’s efforts to raise additional capital from other investors including the country’s pension funds, high net worth individuals, insurers, and foreign institutional investors. 🇦🇴 Some news from Angola this morning... 🌿 Angolan sovereign wealth fund board approval to invest US$10 million in Minbos Resources 🔍 Minbos has announced that the Fundo Soberano de Angola, the Angolan Sovereign Wealth Fund (Fundo Soberano de Angola-FSDEA), has confirmed its Board’s approval for a US$10 million strategic investment in Minbos, to support the construction of the Cabinda Phosphate Fertilizer Project (CPFP). 💬 Managing Director Lindsay Reed commented: “It is pleasing that the Fundo Soberano de Angola will both assist and benefit in the development of agricultural initiatives that will alleviate poverty, improve food security and durable broadening of the economy. The Sovereign Wealth Fund and IDC share the same interest in developing the Cabinda Phosphate Fertilizer Project for domestic and export sales. #ANGOLA AT THE 2024 AFRICAN CAUCUS MEETING IN ABUJA, NIGERIA The 2024 African Caucus Meeting was held from 1st to 3rd August in Abuja, Nigeria. This year’s event was themed "Facilitating Intra-African Trade: Catalyst for Sustainable Development in Africa," and brought together ministers of finance, governors of African central banks, and representatives from the The World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. The Angolan delegation was headed by the Chairman of the Angola Sovereign Wealth Fund (FSDEA), Armando Manuel, representing the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves de Sousa. As a special guest of the 2024 Caucus, Armando Manuel delivered a lecture on the analysis of the impacts of digitalisation on the economic development of African countries. The delegation also included the Angolan Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, José Bamoquina Zau; Executive Board Member of the National Bank of Angola, Miguel Bartolomeu Miguel; National Director of International Development Cooperation from the Ministry of Planning, Gil Henriques, representing the Minister of Planning; and the National Director of the Office of Studies, Planning and International Relations of the Ministry of Finance, Patrício Neto.
