Shout-out to to the #IDBLabForum 2024 in Buenos Aires, where the energy and momentum around Latam's innovation ecosystem was simply mind-blowing 🚀 The line up included Manu Ginóbili (investor at Newtopia and angel investor in some companies from our portfolio) who went deep into what it takes to build high-performing teams, leadership beyond the court, and his perspective on early-stage venture capital. Having this chat during his visit for the 20th anniversary of the "Generación Dorada" made it even more meaningful for our ecosystem. (Congrats to our friends Pepe and Manu, and the whole team for the wonderful show — check the pics at the end! goosebumps!). One of the forum's highlights was our "Path to Latam Unicorns" panel featuring Patricio Jutard (Co-founder and CTO Mural, & Co-founder and general partner Newtopia VC) and Santiago Sosa (Cofounder and CEO Tiendanube), sharing their incredible journeys as entrepreneurs. Their stories perfectly exemplify why we keep betting on Latam talent - when founders think big from day one, amazing things happen. Another powerful moment was the "Breaking Myths: Gender and Diversity in Venture Capital" where X. Eyeé (CEO at Malo Santo) and Candice Morgan from GV (Google Ventures) shared invaluable insights about how embracing diversity leads to better outcomes for investors, entrepreneurs, and society. The discussion really highlighted how crucial diversity is in shaping both the present and future of venture capital. These conversations reinforced what we've always believed at Newtopia: the intersection of sports, technology, and entrepreneurship creates unique perspectives on leadership and innovation. The Argentine Investment Forum 2024 has come to an end, and it's time to say thank you. It was incredible! More than 1000 investors, entrepreneurs and CEOs. The vibe, the inspiration, wow! It was a must. Thank you all for coming! Demian Reidel explained that the AI Plan that President Milei is talking with tech leaders is based on talent, energy and regulation, but also on the strong determination to reduce fiscal deficit. Daniel Rabinovich explained some incredible things MercadoLibre is doing with AI. World class investors like Jose Sosa del Valle, Ramiro Lauzan, Sebastian Loketek, & Horacio Reyser (moderation Suarez Lorena Andrea & Rodrigo Diaz Valdez), and then top PEs like Roberto Chute, Juan Sebastian Ron, Jeronimo Bosch, and Alejandro Sorgentini (moderation Mario Santarelli), explained the interest for this new era of Argentina, as a destination for global investors. Erich Acher (Monashees) was so generous sharing his journey of more than 20 years as a VC in Latam, witnessing the evolution of the Brasil & Argentina. The panel about AgriFood, Oil & Gas, Mining and Energy, with Mariano Bosch, Pablo Vera Pinto, Michael Meding, Daniel Ridelener, and Gustavo E. Castagnino, was mind blowing with the size of the opportunity Argentina has in its natural resources. Macro + Trust. In her fireside chat with Olivia Pando, Patricia Pomies explained her journey to become COO of Globant, with 30.000 employees in 35 countries. The panel with la "Bruja" Verón, Federico Lauria, & Mariano Zabaleta (moderation María Julia Bearzi), was incredible. Sports & Entertainment as sectors to invest in. Tokenization of players, Bizarrap, Nikki Nicole, Colapinto, and Gen Z! In the Fintech panel, with amazing entrepreneurs like Gaston Irigoyen, Tomas Mindlin & Daniela Espinosa (moderation Ignacio Plaza), they talked about how their financial infrastructure is helping financial inclusion 🙌 The Crypto panel with Borja Martel Seward Sebastian Serrano & Gabriel Gruber (moderation Hanna Schiuma) was pure Rock! The panel about Corporate Innovation, with Eduardo Elsztain, Federico Braun, Fabián Kon, Mariano Tamborini (moderation Gabriela Ruggeri), was a great endorsement. The LPs panel with Magdalena Coronel, Adriana Tortajada, Gabriela Castillo Gonzalo (moderation Matias Peire), gave great fundraising insights for the ARCAP funds. The VCS panel with Susana Garcia-Robles Joaquín Abal Rodrigo Baer Priscila Rodrigues (moderation Carlos Ramos de la Vega) had a great discussion about the ecosystem, and opportunities for investing in argentine founders. The grand finale was Guillermo Rauch, one the best entrepreneurs of its generation, in a conversation with Ariel Arrieta. It was awesome to have him back. The week has reached its halfway point and we couldn't be more impressed and happy with everything that Buenos Aires has already given to the entrepreneurial and investment world. Wow! 🔥 On Monday, our classic #Asado opened the BA Tech Week with more than 100 people present, including entrepreneurs, investors, funds, and other members of our community. Thanks to those who came! [This is your moment to comment if you wanna drop by the next one!] On Tuesday, after 4 years, the #ArgentineInvestmentForum returned, and we had the privilege of having it led by our managing partner Mariano Mayer, who has been serving as president of ARCAP (Asociación Argentina de Capital Privado, Emprendedor y Semilla) for 9 months now. More than 800 people gathered at the 📍 Libertad Palace and had the opportunity to hear high-level panels with top-tier moderators who led us through a day that managed to convey hope in everything Argentina has to offer and how LATAM can be THE place to undertake and invest. Congratulations to those who are part of Newtopia VC for having been part of it. Representing our portfolio startups, we had Mariano Zabaleta from Slice Token, who was part of the non-traditional investments panel with our friends from the house, Juan Sebastián Veron (Club Estudiantes de La Plata) and Federico Lauria, moderated by María Julia Bearzi, Executive Director of Endeavor Argentina. Tomas Mindlin, CEO and co-founder of tapi, shared his experience on the next fintech wave panel, and Borja Martel Seward Martel, founder of Roxom, along with Gabriel Gruber from Exa Labs, contributed their insights in the crypto space. We also highlight those who are very close to our community and whom it's always a pleasure to hear, such as Eric A. in his conversation with Mariano Mayer, Mariano Bosch from Adecoagro in his energy, agriculture, and mining panel. Olivia Pando Pando and her conversation with Patricia Pomies, COO of Globant, Federico Braun bringing the industry leaders' perspective with La Anónima. Aviva closes its seed round for $5.5M, which it will use to expand its presence in Mexico and increase its product offerings with the goal of reaching profitability by 2025. In addition to Newtopia VC, the round included participation from Krealo, Credicorp, Ignia Partners, Carao Ventures, Rainforest Capital, DCG, and current investors Wollef, 500 Global, and Magna VC. The startup, co-founded by Filiberto Castro, David Hernández, Amran Frey, and Israel Garcia, offers loans to individuals and small businesses, focusing on populations with less than 500,000 inhabitants who are primarily in the informal economy. Applications are made via video calls with a bot in physical kiosks and are processed in minutes. We congratulate the team on this new milestone. Proud to accompany them on this journey.

Mariano Mayer participated in the "Business Transformation Forum 2024" panel by AmCham Argentina.
