📦🌍 Fibre-based packaging already boasts an impressive 83.2% recycling rate in Europe, and in the years to come, we must work together to ensure it reaches even greater heights. With the theme #NewHorizons4Packaging, more than 160 industry experts gathered in Brussels for the 4evergreen Annual Conference. To achieve our ambitious goal of a 90% recycling rate for fibre-based packaging by 2030, it’s essential to establish clear standards for every stage of the product lifecycle—from design to collection and sorting. Our Dr. Johannes Zipfel joined forces with Workstream 1 colleagues from 4evergreen alliance, including Peter Hengesbach, Raymond De Schrevel, Lydia Tempel, Vanessa Wortmann, Marie Geißler, Christian Trieb and Manon Schoevaerdts. The team is nearing completion of a major release: version 1 of the Recyclability Evaluation Protocol, which will set a definitive standard for recyclability in the industry. The conference showcased exciting advancements in fibre-based packaging, upcoming regulations like the PPWR, updates on various 4evergreen workstreams, and inspiring success stories from 4EG members.
