👩🎓 Calling students and graduates in nuclear-related fields 👨🎓 The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency wants to hear from you 🗯️ The NEA Global Forum on Nuclear Education, Science, Technology and Policy has developed a qualitative survey to explore how and why individuals decide to join the #nuclear field and how their experiences impact decisions to stay in or leave the field. ⚛️ ℹ️ This survey is intended for anyone who is currently a student in the nuclear field or has graduated in the last 20 years. The “nuclear field” is defined as nuclear science and engineering and related areas of science, technology, law, policy, and education. 👩🔬👷 The responses will be used to formulate recommendations for making the nuclear field more welcoming to students from all backgrounds. In a first-of-its-kind study, peptide receptor radionuclide therapy, or PRRT, has been deemed the most effective way to treat neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) compared to everolimus. When managing tumors that have as high a fatality rate as NETs, it's important for both doctors and patients to understand the most effective, least toxic treatments. Nuclear Medicine Europe was informed by NRG, the operator of the HFR reactor, that a planned inspection on September 17th identified increased pipe deformation in the reactor’s primary system. Although repairs were originally set for December 2024, the issue must now be addressed before HFR cycle 2024-07 begins on October 10th. A solution is in place, and testing is ongoing. NRG aims to start the reactor one week later than planned, depending on the results of this week’s tests. Nuclear Medicine Europe anticipates potential Mo-99 shortages by mid-October and is actively exploring solutions to minimize delays, with strong support from the Security of Supply Working Group and the Emergency Response Team.
