Info
In a world of over-, mis- or blurred information, inoqo provides retailers, brands, and their consumers with scientific data on the environmental, social, and biodiversity impacts of grocery products. Founded in 2020, inoqo aims to promote sustainable consumption and production practices within food systems. As a leading Software as a Service (SaaS) platform, inoqo specializes in helping grocery retailers, F&B brands, and food suppliers assess the impact of their entire range of food and beverage products in a scalable and cost-efficient manner. Our platform guides grocery retailers towards achieving net-zero emissions by identifying emission hotspots and enabling food producers to take targeted actions to reduce them. By optimizing operations and minimizing emissions, retailers can also engage consumers with impact labels and data-driven solutions. Facing climate and ecological crises, the F&B retail industry is under growing pressure to demonstrate genuine sustainability in operations and product offerings. Despite the widespread setting of sustainability goals, tracking the environmental impact of product ranges remains a challenge. inoqo offers a solution that grows in accuracy over time by ingesting farm-level data and other primary data, enabling detailed tracking of carbon emission reductions throughout the entire food supply chain, moving beyond simple category-level data.

Every quarter, our team comes together for our OKR Week. It’s a great opportunity for us to align on our strategic goals and discuss how we can keep pushing forward in our mission to create a more sustainable future. This quarter, we took a step further in our learning by visiting the Spittelau waste incineration plant from Wien Energie GmbH. It is a prime example of effective waste management strategies at the end-of-life stage in a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). ♻️ #inoqo #sustainability

At inoqo, we believe that sustainability starts from within. That’s why we launched Summer Fridays—a pilot initiative aimed at improving our team’s well-being while maintaining productivity. Over July and August, our employees had the chance to take two full Fridays off or four half Fridays off, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! 🔹 Well-being improved to 5.3/6 🔹 Work-life balance satisfaction increased to 5.5/6 🔹 Productivity was positively impacted with a score of 4.7/6 While we’re always striving to find new ways to create a sustainable work environment, we’re thrilled to see the impact of this initiative. A special thanks to Nikola Lugonja, our Head of People, for sharing these insights in a recent article. Check out the full story here 👇 Do you have ideas for similar initiatives? Or want to work for a company that values well-being and sustainability? #WorkLifeBalance #Sustainability #SummerFridays #inoqo
1) Summer Fridays will improve employees' mental and physical well-being. 2) The initiative will enhance satisfaction with work-life balance. 3) Productivity during the rest of the week will either be maintained or increase. 4) Employees will feel more creative or reflective about their work. 5) Taking Fridays off as a team will boost team spirit. These are the 5 hypotheses we wanted to validate/test while we pivoted Summer Fridays (in the light version) at inoqo. The results are in the article. #SummerFridays #LifeAtInoqo #ImpactStartup

Did you know that over 50% of shrimp consumed globally is now farmed? As seafood lovers, it's crucial we understand the environmental impact of our choices. Here's what my recent research revealed: 🔍 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Farmed shrimp from China has a climate impact of 7.5 kg CO2e/kg at port, while wild-caught tiger prawns from Australia clock in at a whopping 28.0 kg CO2e/kg. This significant difference stems from various factors unique to each production method. 🌱 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬: Wild-caught: Scarcity, habitat challenges, fishing techniques Farmed: Feed conversion ratio, on-farm energy use 🤔 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲: Neither option is perfect. Wild-caught shrimp often has a higher carbon footprint due to fuel-intensive fishing methods. Farmed shrimp, while potentially lower in emissions, faces challenges with habitat destruction and water pollution. 🛒 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬: Look for certifications like MSC or ASC for sustainably sourced seafood. Consider exploring alternatives to crustaceans for a lower environmental impact. If you're set on shrimp, support aquaculture practices that use deforestation-free soy feed. European Commission Proposes 12-Month Delay for EU Deforestation Regulation In a surprising turn of events, the European Commission has proposed a 12-month delay in implementing the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). This landmark legislation, aimed at banning the import and trade of commodities linked to deforestation, will now potentially come into effect on December 30, 2025, for large companies and June 30, 2026, for SMEs. The regulation aims to prohibit the import and trade of seven key commodities and their derivatives in the European market if they are associated with deforestation or forest degradation. These commodities are coffee, cocoa, soy, beef, palm oil, rubber, and wood. 𝐊𝐄𝐘 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐒: ✅ The delay proposal comes after global partners expressed concerns about preparedness. ✅ The Commission emphasizes that this extension does not question the law's objectives. ✅ Environmental groups criticize the delay, citing urgent climate concerns. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐌𝐂𝐆 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐞 3 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 This delay could significantly impact FMCG retailers and their scope 3 emission reduction strategies: 🟢 Extended preparation time: Retailers will have more time to adapt their supply chains and ensure compliance with EUDR requirements. 🟢Potential setback for sustainability goals: The delay might slow down efforts to reduce deforestation-related emissions in supply chains. 🟢Opportunity for deeper engagement: Retailers can use this time to work more closely with suppliers on sustainable sourcing practices. 🟢Revisiting strategies: Companies may need to reassess and potentially adjust their scope 3 reduction timelines and approaches. 🟢Competitive advantage: Proactive retailers who maintain their original timelines could gain a market edge in sustainability performance. 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐔𝐃𝐑 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 The EUDR delay presents an opportunity for FMCG retailers to leverage advanced sustainability software solutions. inoqo PIA Platform software is specifically designed to help Food Retailers assess, manage, and reduce their scope 3 emissions. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨: 🔎Conduct comprehensive product assessments across their entire range. ⚠️Identify high-risk products and suppliers related to deforestation. 📊Implement data-driven strategies to reduce scope 3 emissions. 📈 Build robust systems for ongoing monitoring and reporting. ✅Prepare thoroughly for EUDR compliance while simultaneously advancing broader sustainability goals. By acting now and utilizing such tools, retailers can turn this delay into a strategic advantage, positioning themselves as leaders in sustainable practices well ahead of the new deadline. What are your thoughts on this development? #Sustainability #EUDR #foodimpact #SupplyChain #ClimateAction

Which Has a Bigger Impact: Wild-Caught or Farmed Salmon at the Port/Farm Level? 🐟 Wild-Caught Salmon in Alaska: With a carbon footprint of just 0.58 kg CO2e/kg, it might seem like the eco-friendly choice. But is it really? Most of this impact comes from diesel burned in fishing vessels. 🐟 Farmed Salmon in Norway: At 2.46 kg CO2e/kg, farmed salmon has a larger footprint, driven by feed, energy use, and aquatic nitrous oxide emissions. But is there more to the story? Curious about how these numbers stack up and what they really mean for our planet? Join our webinar on Sept 26th to explore the climate impact of seafood at the port/farm level. 🔗 Register here: https://lnkd.in/diFc9zfr #Sustainability #Seafood #ClimateImpact #NetZero
