We supply 100% recycled copper for transformers! 🎉 Copper scrap from Siemens Energy is upcycled to new Grade A cathodes and returned to the supply chain. With our process, we are both at the end and the beginning of the value chain. We use hydropower from our surrounding area 🌊 Energy management and consequently energy efficiency is one of the most important topics at Montanwerke Brixlegg. In addition to project-related investments to increase the proportion of renewable energy, our three hydropower plants have been contributing to the company's renewable energy supply for decades. Lochham-1 went into operation back in 1955, Lochham-2 followed in 1986 and the third - Alpsteg - has been supplying fossil-free electricity since 2009. 🔋A total of up to 18 GWh of electricity is produced each year. ➡️ The electricity generated is used entirely in our plant and, together with our photovoltaic systems, covers around 20 % of our operational electricity requirements. Any additional electricity we need for our operations is purchased as external electricity from local waterworks. 💡 The use of renewable energy helps us to reduce our CO2 emissions and minimise our dependence on fossil fuels. Wir hatten kürzlich die Freude, die Junge Industrie Tirol – die Nachwuchsorganisation der Industriellenvereinigung Tirol – in unserer Kupferhütte begrüßen zu dürfen. Bei einer ausführlichen Werksführung konnten die jungen Talente unsere Schmelzprozesse, die Elektrolyse und die Vielfalt an Schrotten hautnah erleben. Die wissbegierigen und interessierten Teilnehmenden bereicherten den Besuch mit spannenden Diskussionen und regem Austausch. At the beginning of this month, tradition met innovation! It's a tradition that we are proud of. We hold a celebration not only in honor of our long-standing employees but also on behalf of our patron saint, Saint Florian. He is known as the patron saint of the fire department but is also considered to be the patron saint of blacksmiths and metallurgy. This is because he is said to protect against fire and burn underground and, as the conqueror of fire, is able to control and keep fire in check during smelting.
