Since 26 August 2024, eligible Australian employees have had the right to disconnect from employment related contact outside of work hours. While the Act does not prevent employers from contacting employees outside of working hours, employees have the right to refuse this contact unless that refusal is unreasonable. This includes monitoring, reading or responding to contact from an employer or a third party.   If you have questions about the Right to Disconnect provision, please contact Nick Wakeling, Workplace Relations Manager, at 03 9864 6000.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and the theme this year is mental health in the workplace. A mentally healthy workplace is not just beneficial for employees but also for the overall productivity and success of an organisation. In Australia, the conversation around mental health at work has gained significant momentum, and for good reason. - Mental health conditions are a leading cause of absenteeism in the workplace. - They account for 11% of all serious workers' compensation claims. - The average pay out for psychological injuries is $42,335. - The estimated cost to the economy is up to $12 billion a year. We explore the core risks to mental health in the workplace and discuss three ways to reduce their impact by promoting mental health. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #HR

This affects team cohesion as other team members are forced to pick up the slack, leading to frustration and conflict. Yet the reasons for weaponised incompetence may not be as obvious as they seem. We explore weaponised incompetence in the workplace, why it occurs and how to manage it. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ggAjKXdg
