ACMF had the pleasure of attending the AgriFutures Chicken Meat Consortium today in Brisbane. It was inspiring to see so many passionate industry representatives come together to shape the future of chicken meat. A special shout-out to the talented PhD students who shared their cutting-edge research—these future leaders are driving the innovations that will propel our industry forward. The consortium is tackling some of the most exciting challenges in poultry production: 🔬 Boosting the digestibility of locally grown, high-protein feed grains—reducing our dependence on imported feed. 🥚 Optimising nutrition in parent birds to enhance the health and performance of future generations. 🌎 What impacts do nutritional changes have on gut health, and how does that, in turn, influence the environment in which broiler chickens are raised? Through initiatives like these, the AgriFutures Consortium project is accelerating the industry’s journey toward greater sustainability and ensuring we stay at the forefront of progress. #FutureOfFood #Sustainability #PoultryInnovation #ChickenMeat #AgriFutures

The Australian Chicken Meat Federation welcomes the Australian Government's decision to allocate $95 million towards enhancing the nation's preparedness for the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 virus. This investment is in addition to the $6.9 million funding allocated to HPAI H5N1 preparedness announced earlier this year. Activities to be funded under this package will complement the extensive preparedness program already being pursued by industry. You can read the ACMF's media release here: https://lnkd.in/gnPSt2VB

Australia is taking proactive measures to safeguard its unique ecosystems and agricultural industries from the threat of Avian Influenza. The government is conducting a comprehensive national exercise to test our preparedness to respond to a potential outbreak of the H5N1 Avian Influenza strain. This highly contagious virus poses a significant risk to both wildlife and poultry populations. The ACMF, along with other representatives across agriculture, government, environment and health, have undertaken preparatory exercises to bolster our national preparedness and capability. The ACMF has completed the third activity of Exercise Volare following two activities held last month. The ACMF provided sector-specific insights and feedback to support our national preparedness and inform capability arrangements. More information about Exercise Volare is available at: https://lnkd.in/g5BFYCbX Key findings and recommendations from the exercise will be made publicly available following a review of the activities.

ACMF would like to thank everyone who attended in person or virtually, for their support and participation in our National Avian Influenza Summit held this week on the Gold Coast. Day two of the National Avian Influenza Summit was a working session for industry. The room was buzzing with ideas and collaboration on all things H5N1 preparedness, response, and recovery. The insights from our overseas guests who are already facing H5N1 incursions, and the knowledge sharing from local experts was invaluable, as we prepare for the possibility of H5N1 arriving on our shores. Stay tuned as ACMF works on consolidating and sharing key outcomes from the Summit.
