We’re here for community health, inclusion and HIV responses for people of diverse sexualities and genders.

About us

We’re a New South Wales based health promotion organisation specialising in HIV prevention, HIV support and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) health. Established in 1985 as the AIDS Council of NSW, we’re here to end HIV transmission among gay and homosexually active men, and promote the lifelong health of LGBTI people and people with HIV. Our head office is in Sydney, we have offices in five regional locations and we provide services throughout NSW. We’re primarily funded by the NSW Government through the NSW Ministry of Health and our work forms an integral part of the NSW Government’s HIV Strategy. We provide a comprehensive range of evidence based programs and services as well as collaborating with all levels of government to ensure our work is supported by effective policy settings. People choose to work at ACON because they believe in what we do. ACON employees get a great sense of accomplishment from working here and most strongly identify with ACON’s goals and objectives. ACON provides employees with a number of learning experiences ranging from courses and seminars, to e-learning and conferences as well as on-the-job learning. ACON also assists employee learning through Study Assistance. We offer employees a supportive workplace through flexible work practices and benefits. ACON is committed to building an organisation that represents the variety of our rich and diverse communities. All people in the workplace deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourage people with HIV, in particular, to apply.
