As a Fearless Innovator donor, I am passionate about supporting women in business. Less than 2% of venture capital goes to female-led businesses, and that needs to change! Yesterday, I had the absolute honour of attending a special event at Government House, hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia. The occasion marked the 80th anniversary of Australia’s very first Occupational Therapy association - 80 years of connection! 💜 It was an incredible event, bringing together so many talented OTs to celebrate this milestone and the profound impact our profession has on countless lives. Feeling truly privileged to have been invited to this momentous event. Time flies when you're having fun - we can't believe it's been a full 12 months since we welcomed Lauren (our Marketing & PR Coordinator) to our team. This Occupational Therapy Week, we're spotlighting Helen Whait, the remarkable founder of ActivOT. Helen is a pioneer in the OT space, becoming the first in Australia to franchise a private practice. 👏 "I’m most proud of the impact we have on the lives of those we work with. As occupational therapists, we are problem solvers and don’t give up, even when things get tough," Helen says. Helen, who has had a remarkable 30-year career in occupational therapy, is a finalist for 'Occupational Therapist of the Year' at the 2024 Australian Allied Health Awards. This is a testament to her unwavering commitment to advancing the field of occupational therapy. Right now, there is a significant shortage of OTs, and demand is only growing as people begin to truly recognise their value. We're proud to partner with Occupational Therapy Australia and greatly appreciate the work that OTs like Helen do, especially for our mutual clients who turn to occupational therapists to help them get their lives back on track.
