We are pleased to be partnering with Active Medical to trial the PU Sensor. Two of our QLD Practitioners, Nora from ActivOT Sunshine Coast and Matika from ActivOT Upper Coomera are trialling the device with some of their current clients for pressure injury management. The PU sensor can identify if someone has poor blood flow near the surface of their skin when pressure is applied, like when lying down. The sensor checks how the body reacts to gentle pressure, known as PIV (Pressure-induced vasodilation). If a person doesn’t have a good PIV response, it means their blood flow is weaker under pressure, which puts them at greater risk of developing pressure sores. The PU sensor helps figure out who is at risk which allows us to provide early prevention to those who need it most. Yesterday, I had the absolute honour of attending a special event at Government House, hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia. The occasion marked the 80th anniversary of Australia’s very first Occupational Therapy association - 80 years of connection! 💜 It was an incredible event, bringing together so many talented OTs to celebrate this milestone and the profound impact our profession has on countless lives.
