Delivering client-centred occupational therapy services Australia-wide with empathy, integrity and kindness.
About us
ActivOT (pronounced ‘activity’) is Australia’s first and only occupational therapy franchise business. Founded by award-winning occupational therapist, Helen Whait, in 2012, ActivOT now has over 60 practitioners across metropolitan and regional South Australia, South East Queensland, Western Australia, NSW and Victoria. ActivOT challenges how community-based Occupational Therapy services are delivered Australia-wide. Our co-operative of like-minded, values-aligned practitioners benefit from a pooling of shared resources, ultimately meaning our practitioners are able to deliver fully client-centred care. ActivOT is pioneering the charge to combat burnout and bureaucracy in allied health, all while equipping occupational therapists with the tools to provide the best possible service to the highest standard. In 2024 ActivOT is expanding its presence in New South Wales, Western Australia and Victoria, in both metropolitan and regional areas, and invites expressions of interest from AHPRA-registered occupational therapists who are ready to become private practitioners. ActivOT and the ActivOT logo are registered trademarks of ActivOT Pty Ltd.

We are pleased to be partnering with Active Medical to trial the PU Sensor. Two of our QLD Practitioners, Nora from ActivOT Sunshine Coast and Matika from ActivOT Upper Coomera are trialling the device with some of their current clients for pressure injury management. The PU sensor can identify if someone has poor blood flow near the surface of their skin when pressure is applied, like when lying down. The sensor checks how the body reacts to gentle pressure, known as PIV (Pressure-induced vasodilation). If a person doesn’t have a good PIV response, it means their blood flow is weaker under pressure, which puts them at greater risk of developing pressure sores. The PU sensor helps figure out who is at risk which allows us to provide early prevention to those who need it most. Thank you to Madison at Active Medical for inviting ActivOT practitioners to be part of this collaboration. #AlliedHealth #StrongerTogether #Collaboration

Isn't it nice when everything just lines up!? 🤩 We had to share this snap of Simon, Pam, Shez, Annette and Tessa, all caught up for a coffee this morning - by happy coincidence, they are all on the Gold Coast this week! ☕️ The most wonderful thing about the ActivOT community is that there is always someone to catch up with when you travel to other parts of the country. ❤️💙 #Community #Connection #Culture

How's the serenity!? 🤩 Jane from ActivOT Copper Coast snapped this picture while doing client visits a few weeks back. She loves that her work as an OT with ActivOT gives her the freedom to enjoy picturesque mobile office locations like this. 🌊 #PrivatePractice #OTAustralia #OccupationalTherapist #CommunityHealth

A few weeks ago, OT Michelle Julianes from ActivOT Rouse Hill has shared her shopping trip to Kmart with us, so we can see how everyday items can help her clients develop and maintain independence. Now it's time for part 2! Colourful socks for matching 🧦 Michelle says: "Sock matching is more than just fun! For kids, it’s a great way to practice colour recognition and sorting. For older adults, it keeps the brain sharp and feel accomplished!" 🧠✨ Part 3 is coming your way soon! 🤩 #OccupationalTherapy #SkillBuilding #Kmart

🫶 Helping occupational therapists go from employees to business owners ✨ Empowering allied health professionals to beat burnout ⭐️ 65 franchisees and counting
As a Fearless Innovator donor, I am passionate about supporting women in business. Less than 2% of venture capital goes to female-led businesses, and that needs to change! Women supporting women—it’s not just a saying; it's a movement. Together, we are stronger and we go further! Last night was truly inspiring. I attended the Fearless Innovator grant event, where 10 exceptional finalists were revealed from a competitive pool of 150 applicants. Each of these women is driving fearless innovation and setting the stage for future leaders to follow. ✨ I am so proud to be a part of this community of fearless, innovative women, and I can’t wait to see what these finalists achieve next! Yesterday, I had the absolute honour of attending a special event at Government House, hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia. The occasion marked the 80th anniversary of Australia’s very first Occupational Therapy association - 80 years of connection! 💜 It was an incredible event, bringing together so many talented OTs to celebrate this milestone and the profound impact our profession has on countless lives. Feeling truly privileged to have been invited to this momentous event.
