Australia’s biggest arts festival: 21 Feb - 23 Mar 2025

About us

Adelaide Fringe is an annual open-access arts festival run over four weeks in Adelaide, South Australia during February and March. It is the biggest ticket selling arts festival in Australia, and the second biggest Fringe festival in the world. It began in 1960 as an alternative to the Adelaide Festival of the Arts which offered only limited opportunity for local artists. Unlike a curated festival, the open-access nature of Adelaide Fringe means that anyone with a show, exhibition or cultural event is able to register and be part of Australia’s largest arts event. The result is one of the most diverse arts festivals in the world, renowned for fresh ideas, spontaneity and fun. Artists from around Australia and across the globe participate alongside home-grown talent, in art forms spanning cabaret, comedy, circus, dance, film, theatre, puppetry, music, visual art & design. Key to the operation of Adelaide Fringe is its role to support, encourage and facilitate registered artists, presenters and venues. It works to ensure that artists and presenters have the best possible experience, right through from the registration process to their performances and exhibitions. What differentiates Adelaide Fringe from many other Fringe Festivals in the world is that alongside the ticketed open access program are the Fringe produced and/or supported special free events, which run throughout the program. Congratulations to our incredible Operations & Finance Coordinator, Courtney Sumner-Kimlin, as she embarks on the National Apprentice Employment Network’s 'Today's Skills Tomorrow's Leaders' (TSTL) program. This prestigious initiative selects outstanding apprentices and trainees from across Australia and assists them in developing additional skills that prepares them for future leadership. Courtney’s recognition is no small feat, especially after being a winner for the 2023 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year in the South Australian Skills Commission SA Training Awards. Her dedication to her role and work is truly exceptional, inspiring those around her. From 3-8 November 2024, Courtney will immerse herself into an action-packed week in Canberra, gaining valuable insights, networking with other trainees, and honing her leadership skills. We can’t wait to see how this experience empowers Courtney to make an even bigger impact on the work we do at #ADLfringe.

Drum roll please! 🥁 We’re excited to announce our official poster for the 2025 Adelaide Fringe, designed by John Pedder 🎉 John Pedder is a British artist known for his painting, drawing and printmaking. John hand carves his wood blocks and makes the prints in his own backyard studio. John’s winning print depicts a range of boldly coloured characters of all ages and genders, each with their own story. The artwork speaks well to Adelaide Fringe’s vision to become the most inclusive festival in the world.  We’re thrilled to partner again with Lumo Energy SA, who has offered a $10,000 cash prize to this year's winner 👏 Congratulations, John - we can’t wait to see your design all over South Australia next season!
