Afea Care Services is a leading provider of disability and aged healthcare services. Founded in 2008, we provide compassionate home and community care across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Afea is a: - Registered NDIS provider - Approved provider of Home Care Package (My Aged Care) services - Approved attendant care provider for Insurance and Care NSW (icare) The Afea difference lies in our agile approach to build the best support team around each individual client, whether you have low or high care requirements. We currently employ 600+ support workers, Care Managers and Registered Nurses, who together provide support to over 1,400 families every week. Our diverse team speaks over 50 languages, which mirrors the culturally rich communities we serve. Afea provides safe housing in our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes and have forged partnerships with specialist disability accommodation (SDA) providers to combine fully accessible housing with reliable 24/7 care. We also proudly offer Plan Management and Support Coordination services to NDIS participants across Australia. Lunch is better with a little sprinkle of sweetness and a dash of knowledge! 🧁✨🍽️ Our deepest thanks to our friends in the #ndis sector for joining our special 'Lunch and Learn' session. Attendees were able to kick back, enjoy some nibbles, learn something new and decompress with a fun cupcake decorating contest! Thank you to Dr Sadaf Warraich of Motor Neurone Disease NSW (MND NSW) for giving us an overview of MND. Dr Warraich also shared a sneak peek of her important research investigating the possible causes of this condition. Our thanks to Mark Keaton for sharing his experience about living with cerebral palsy, and his advocacy in PDRL (Physical Disability Rugby League) and beyond. We were honoured to have Mark judge our cupcake decorating contest! Helping the community is simply BAU for many of our organisations, however, today was a special opportunity to roll up our sleeves at Foodbank NSW & ACT to make an impact *beyond* our business 💫 Today, we became #HungerFighters. Today, we connected. In our work, we provide care to women living in the margins, some of whom may not have family living nearby, or anyone else who could advocate for their health. We know how important care work is, as research has shown that women in disadvantaged populations - e.g. women living in remote areas, migrant or refugee women or women in unstable housing conditions - continue to experience poorer health outcomes.
