  • With solar, batteries and home energy upgrades, we can all be saving $3000 a year on our energy bills. 😮 We are all feeling the pinch of the cost-of-living crisis. We also know that this crisis is felt most severely by people experiencing disadvantage. We want to see the people we serve every day – who are experiencing the impacts of climate change, extreme weather and cost of living most severely - to be able to access this technology and these household energy upgrades. 👉We need all governments to back the practical and climate-friendly solutions that will drive down energy costs now! #Climate #ClimateAction #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #ClimateCrisis #AusPol #CostOfLiving

  • Uniting’s Starrett Lodge residents have reached new heights with a calendar that captures some of their favourite pop stars and singers. 🤩 For the last 15 years, residents have come up with a fun calendar photoshoot that really lifts their spirits and allows them to make a little magic. Last year they delved into the movie archives and recreated their favourite moments from films. The theme of this year’s calendar is Famous Singers, featuring stars such as Elvis, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton and our very own Jessica Mauboy. “This is a great opportunity to show the community a different side to residential aged care and let them see how we encourage our residents to do things here they thought they’d never do,” said Service Manager, Tracey Chapman. As always, all money raised from the sales of the calendar will go towards some of the resident’s ‘bucket list’ requests and general resident activities. In the past this has seen residents skydive, ride in helicopters, go deep sea fishing and even see Sir Paul McCartney live. Congratulations to our Starrett Lodge superstars. 👉Email ask@uniting.org or call 1800 864 846 to find out how to get your copy. #WeAreUniting #AgedCare #Nurse #Nursing #creativity

  • Australia Day? Invasion Day? Survival Day? January 26 is the official National Day of Australia, but for many First Nations People it is a day of significant hurt that marks the beginning of colonisation. Uniting acknowledges the Sovereignty of First Nations people over this land which was, is, and always will be Aboriginal land. Today First Nations cultures are survived by their people, and through ongoing, healthy and honest conversations about Australia’s history. We encourage everyone to take the date to reflect what was taken when the First Fleet arrived. Through the leadership of First Nations staff like Jessie Robinson we hope to walk together on a path towards strong, thriving and self-determined communities. 🔴🟡⚫ #WeAreUniting #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #SurvivalDay #Jan26 #aboriginal #indigenous #FirstNations

  • Our beautiful resident Vicki was brought to tears during a surprise birthday celebration. The Uniting Mullauna team celebrated her 68th birthday with vanilla cake and plenty of hugs - and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. 🥹 "It made the staff feel deeply touched and emotional to see Vicki’s tears of joy. It was a beautiful moment that really showed how much the team values and cares for her," said Uniting Mullauna Care Service's Gurvinder Kaur. "Vicki was completely overwhelmed and grateful. She mentioned how surprised she was and how special it made her feel, adding that it was one of the most thoughtful surprises she had ever received." Ahh, happy birthday Vicki 🥳 #WeAreUniting #AgedCare #Team #Nurse #creativity #career #thankyou

  • 1 in 10 children in Australia still miss out on quality early learning.⁣ ⁣ The children that stand to benefit the most, are most likely to miss out. ⁣ ⁣ Our More than Money campaign calls out the access issues created by non-financial barriers for families already experiencing disadvantage. ⁣ ⁣ These include families where there is: ⁣ ⁣ 🟣 domestic violence ⁣ 🟣 a child with a disability ⁣ 🟣 Aboriginal and Torres Strait children ⁣ 🟣 a child whose caregiver is a grandparent or unrelated carer ⁣ 🟣 a child from a non-English speaking background, and more ⁣ ⁣ Uniting’s Links to Early Learning program is a proven solution to addressing and overcoming non-financial barriers to early learning. ⁣ ⁣ We believe that increasing the implementation of and funding for this and similar navigation programs will ensure that no child gets left behind. ⁣ ⁣ Education is a human right and quality early learning provides the crucial building blocks needed for lifelong learning and a positive start to school.⁣ 👉Find out more about the More than Money campaign: https://lnkd.in/gQBhRx5m#WeAreUniting #EarlyLearning #MoreThanMoney #Parents #EarlyEducation #AusPol

  • Uniting Springwood resident Jirina shows us all the benefits of marching to the beat of your own drum. 🥁 Like many residents, 101-year-old Jirina loves Drum Class and the chance to bang out a few tunes. "All the residents love it! It's good movement for them, there's good music and it just brings a good feeling to the place," says Uniting Springwood Leisure and Wellness Coordinator - Virginia Ellis. "We put music on the big screen for all to follow - staff join in and we make heaps of noise and all love it." Rock on, Jirina 💜 #WeAreUniting #AgedCare #VideoOFTheDay #love #life

  • Our First Nation’s People and Place Strategy is a bold and and intentional evolution from our previous Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). “We realised we wanted and needed to be transformative in our strategy," said Gavin Mackey - Uniting Director First Nations Strategy and Outcomes. "Our people were also calling for deep, true First Nations leadership in ways that they themselves defined, which led to the development of our First Nations People and Place Strategy." Together with First Nations representation at every level of our leadership, we are striving to set an example, and share our learnings, for other community services organisations. This involves acknowledging our responsibility to listen deeply, reflect honestly, and continually improve how we support First Nations people and communities in achieving meaningful change through self-determination. 🔴 🟡 ⚫   #WeAreUniting #Aboriginal #FirstNations #Indigenous
