About us

With over 20 years of partnerships, service and excellence, Affinity Healthcare is a leading healthcare staffing solution and training provider, specialising in short-term contracts in placing nurses and midwives in rural and remote Australian communities. In a time of critical healthcare shortages, delivering safer and better healthcare is a priority to lesser-known communities. Our roles are filled at record-high rates through partnerships with established clients all over Australia, and state health agreements for Western Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory and Queensland. Unique, in-house education programs and mandatory training are offered to nurses and midwives through Affinity Clinical Education, which recognises the unique context in which rural and remote nurses work. Endorsed by the Australian College of Nursing (ACN), our courses provide evidence-based, up-to-date clinical research and practice. We aim to be a valued partner and the leading provider of workforce solutions to support the health and well-being of communities throughout Australia.

  • A lovely gesture from one of our long-term nurses! One of Affinity's greatest strengths is our bond and trust between consultants and their candidates. "Dear Katie, A small gift to show appreciation for the amazing work you do, facilitating my working contracts. It may be sometimes forgotten from the nurses, on how much work you do behind the scenes. Enjoy this hamper, and thank you for the continued support. Regards, Selina" Well done to Katie for delivering fantastic outcomes. Great service begets incredible experiences!

Two things that might surprise you coming from a manager at a nursing/midwifery agency.   1. I am genuinely pleased when our rural & remote NUMs advise they have a full roster with brand new perm hires. It’s a big win. Too often, it also means this is the first time the NUM can finally stop working the floor in a very long time. How great for the local community, the team, and the facility’s bottom line. This means we’ve done our job, and time to focus on the next community that needs our help. There is always going to be need for agency nurses and midwives somewhere in Australia with the growing consumer demand for healthcare and aging population. If you’re in this industry for the right reasons, the short-term localised change of demand is a positive. 2. Systematic over-reliance on agency staff isn’t good for our own agency workforce retention in the long term. I won’t deny that periods of higher demand do bring more customer opportunity & business growth in the short term. This is never something to be ungrateful for as other industries aren’t so lucky. But from a workforce perspective this industry is never meant to replace the pivatol role that perm staff play in the sector for too long- we’re a supplementary end of line support. When facilities have a less stable permanent workforce there is a greater chance our agency nurses and midwives are walking into environments that are suffering chronic workforce challenges, heavy patient loads & tough rosters. This places more agency nurses at risk of leaving the profession too. Nursing is hard enough. Controlled growth is more beneficial to us in the long term and it shouldn’t be perceived as a threat. Retaining all valuable clinical knowledge in direct patient care roles with the global nursing/midwifery workforce crisis is important.

  • Are you, or do you know, a nursing or midwifery student who is from a regional or remote area? Affinity is thrilled to partner with Charles Sturt University to launch the Affinity Nursing and Midwifery scholarship. We understand the unique challenges nurses and midwives face during clinical placement, so our scholarship will ease some of the financial burden to allow students to complete placement. This scholarship reflects our commitment to supporting rural and remote communities and empowering healthcare professionals. To learn more about this scholarship, visit https://lnkd.in/g_Wh53Un

  • Celebrating a great year with colleagues, family, and (furry) friends~ 🎄🎄🎄🎄 The year is drawing to a close, but that doesn't mean we stop working for our nurses and midwives! We'd like to thank the countless healthcare workers under the Affinity banner who are on contract in communities over this holiday period.
