Leadership in Traffic and Transport

About us

The Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management Ltd (AITPM) is the national association for transport professionals. Our members come from many professions. We advocate to government and industry, provide career support, hold events, encourage new people to join the industry, and promote the importance of transport to the broader community. We want a sustainable, efficient, safe, multimodal transport system that is accessible by all. We adapt to emerging trends in our industry, particularly as we move into a new phase of life with COVID-19. We focus on pressing issues such as inclusivity, economic growth, and reducing carbon emissions. We are building a connected community of members, facilitating collaboration and engagement across the industry, and sharing and developing knowledge and experience. We are also working to partner with universities to encourage students into the sector.

  • A big thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to last week's AITPM Workshop in Caboolture. Co-hosted by the City of Moreton Bay and Arcadis, the event showcased great engagement and thoughtful discussions on addressing transport planning challenges in the QLD North Coast region. The session explored topics like long-term planning alignment, customer-focused solutions, multi-modal connectivity, and the drive for more sustainable transport options for the area. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and collaboration from all attendees.

Interesting project from the City of Vincent (WA). Background: In May 2022 community workshops saw residents keen to share their ideas. A review of feedback helped to understand preferences for street treatment options: - Pocket or mid-blocked parks, diagonal diversions, straight one-lane passing and partial road closures were popular with almost everyone. - Participants were less inclined towards road humps, raised and modified intersections and parking nibs. - Mixed opinions were received regarding narrowing streets, tightening corners and angled one-way passing. - Residents felt retaining parking was necessary regardless of proposed treatments. Consultation has been extended, based on community feedback, and now closes 4pm Monday, 4 November 2024. All feedback will be reviewed and, if supported, the City will continue to seek funding for this project. Great to see the feedback and the use of raised safety platforms at intersections.
