Congratulations to Josiah Schuller for presenting his Monash University Final Year Project poster this week on the “Efficient Scaling of Data Ingestion and Data Storage of An Existing Integrity Monitoring Solution for Floating Offshore Wind Farms”. Josiah utilised his engineering FYP to research data management strategies for #Ozea; AMOG and sowento's monitoring solution for floating offshore wind turbines. Ozea - the FOWT Monitoring solution is a live automated solution which monitors the integrity of the turbine, tower structure, floater structure, moorings and cables of floating offshore turbines. In order for Ozea to operate on commercial-scale wind farms (which can have up to 200 turbines), Ozea must be capable of processing and ingesting upwards of 100 million data points per hour. At such a massive scale, serious consideration is required for the technologies used to manage this data. Throughout his research, Josiah investigated efficient and developer-friendly data storage systems for containing commercial-scale farm's worth of sensor data, as well as frameworks to process and ingest sensor data from their arrival into the aforementioned data storage systems. Despite various hiccups along the way, he was pleased to find some satisfactory results and looks forward to seeing how his research will play a part in Ozea's future. Josiah has been working as an intern at AMOG, having originally joined the company as a Defence Industry Internship Program (#DIIP) participant. Also, thank you to AMOG's Clare Thomas who, along with Terrence W.K. Mak, were Josiah's FYP supervisors. #fowt Monash Engineering

Oversized rocks can have massive impacts on the throughput of mining operations by causing crusher blockages. This article from Kanishka J. is a deep dive into this issue and how technology solutions like #LoadWise (https://lnkd.in/gFtbZ6Cd) can be integrated into operations to mitigate the problem. #mining #miningtechnology
Over the past few months, I've posted a few times about the issue of oversized rocks / #boulders in #mining and technologies to address this issue. In this longer form article, we bring it all together and tie it back to how these technologies can be integrated into operations.

AMOG reposted this
Yesterday AIDN VIC hosted and facilitated a meeting between General Tom Middendorp AO (Ret.), the former Dutch Commander in Chief and current Chair of the International Military Council on Climate and Security, and representatives from Victorian defence industry that operate across the climate and security domains. General Middendorp opened discussions surrounding the IMCSS' mission and why climate change is a security and defence concern, followed by a Q&A. Leading to conversations concerning logistic challenges, regional fragmentation, increased natural disasters and subsequent distractions from a military's core mission of sovereign defence. AIDN would like to extend our gratitude to General Middendorp and the Embassy and Consulate-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Australia for reaching out and assisting with organising this meeting. We hope this meeting can work as a first step for future engagement. Thank you to all who participated and contributed to the meeting: Alexander Robinson, Ocean Software / AIDN Director Regina Crameri PhD, GAICD, Victorian Defence Industry Advocate Teresa Tufano, Victorian Government Jason Barkla, Aldus Engineering Kristian Wheeler, Aurecon Steve Kouloumendas, Anywise Emily Zitkevicius Tim Lee, AMOG Callum Wright, The Defence Science Institute Pier Marzocca, RMIT University Rachelle Gedge, Renaissance Strategic Advisors #AIDNNational #AIDNVIC #EnhancingIndustryandDefence #StrongerTogether Australian Industry & Defence Network (AIDN National)
