Resourcing People to Live Well
About us
AQA was established in 1987 by a group of people with quadriplegia who saw a need for improved access to information, support and employment opportunities for people living with a spinal cord injury. Today, AQA has grown into a strong and diverse community. We support each other to live full and enriching lives by sharing our knowledge and lived experience of a range of complex physical disabilities, through our services and our relationships. Whether it’s daily living support, achieving specific goals, boosting your independence, adjusting to a change in circumstances, or just meeting folks with shared experience, it’s likely we can help. And if we can’t, we’ll find someone who can.

Today is R U OK day. This years theme is 'any day', and no one understands that better than our own peer support team, harnessing their lived experience to have meaningful conversations with community - every day. Often the conversations within peer support involve themes of mental health, so this #RUOKDay, we went straight to our peer support team for their advice on how to ask this question more meaningfully. #PeerSupport #MentalHealth #RUOKDay2024 #DisabilitySupport

Today, on Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day we're spreading awareness direct from our very own team. Earlier this week Lenny, Community Network Coordinator, went around the AQA office to see what some of our staff had learnt about SCI since starting in their current roles. Here's what they had to say! Stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow. In the meantime, check out more from our team here: [https://lnkd.in/ggiihH4V] #SCI #SpinalCordInjuryAwareness #DisabilityAustralia #DisabilityInclusion #SpinalCordInjury

We have been so lucky to have Amy as a part of the AQA team over the past year, joining us as a Graduate Occupational Therapist and very quickly becoming an integral part of the community. Just look at the video collection of memories and adventures across the last 12 months! The downside to having such a fantastic team however, is when you have to say goodbye! We wish Amy McKernan the best of luck on her next adventure in Canada. And on that note, we are accepting expressions of interest from both OT's and Grad OT's interesting in joining the AQA team. As I move on to new adventures overseas, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences and learning opportunities I've had while working at AQA Community. This organisation has given me some of the coolest career opportunities and experiences that have challenged me and developed my skills as an Occupational Therapist. I am so proud to have been a part of this amazing community and of what I have personally achieved. Thank you to everyone at AQA for your support and friendship over the past year.
