Reinforcing the Foundations of Australia Since 1920
About us
The Australian Reinforcing Company (ARC) is a leading manufacturer and supplier of steel reinforcing in Australia. Our aim is to make it safe, fast and simple for our customers and suppliers to partner with us. With manufacturing facilities across the East Coast and a vast metro and regional branch network across Australia, we can supply all your reinforcing needs. Originating from the British Reinforcing Company (BRC), ARC was established in Sunshine Victoria in 1920 as the first Australian reinforcing company. Our company name began as A.R.C that year and, though it has changed throughout the years, we returned to the name of our roots 10 years ago as the Australian Reinforcing Company. Over the last 100 years, we have consistently been an integral part of construction in Australia. Whilst our owners have changed, our products haven't. We will continue to supply Australian made steel products, from Australian steel mills.

With two branches just five minutes apart—Kunda Park and Maroochydore—ARC has been a key part of the Sunshine Coast community for over 40 years. Led by Trevor May, the team continues to grow its presence and build strong customer loyalty, serving areas from the Glass House Mountains to Hervey Bay and Jimna. Kunda Park handles residential projects, while Maroochydore serves as the production powerhouse with seven cutting-edge machines. Across both locations, our team of 39 locals work together in sales, estimating, scheduling, and customer service to deliver top-notch service. From high-rises to luxury homes, ARC has helped shape the Sunshine Coast skyline. We've partnered with top builders like Juniper, Reeds, and Nick Hayes on standout projects, including Mooloolaba's transformation, the M1 Resort in Maroochydore, and the Kerr Residence at Dicky Beach. We're also proud to support the local community, backing the Kawana Waters Surf Life Saving Club Masters Team and sponsoring the Maroochydore Football Club. With 68 years of combined experience, you can trust our Sunny Coast account managers, Vern Irvine and Doug Welk, to kickstart your next project! 📞

Why do we stop for R U OK? day 👷🏼🦺💬 In the construction industry, we all know the pressures of tight deadlines and high-stress environments. These can take a toll, leaving some of us feeling disconnected at times. But sometimes, a simple, genuine conversation can make all the difference for someone who’s struggling. It’s something we can all do to help a mate or colleague feel supported and seen. If taking just five minutes today sparks even one more conversation, that’s enough. Because one conversation can save a life.

Last Friday, we had the privilege of attending the Queensland Building Women Awards with the Housing Industry Association (HIA). As proud members of HIA for 10 years, we’re committed to supporting their efforts in driving positive change across the industry. It was a great day celebrating the remarkable achievements of women in Queensland. A highlight of the event was our own Merryl Nevison presenting the Business Development Professional award to valued customer, Melissa Wolfe from Plantation Homes, as award partners. “Without the contribution of skilled and dedicated women, the home building industry simply does not function, and our winners this year clearly demonstrate the high value that women are bringing to the table,” Mr. Roberts, HIA Executive Director - Queensland. Congratulations to Melissa and all the incredible winners who are helping to shape the future of construction!

OUR PEOPLE // Merryl Nevison’s journey with ARC is a prime example of both our internal talent development and her dedication to success. Merryl started in 1982 as a Trainee Scheduler at ARC Rockhampton, and through the years has worked her way up to become the Customer Experience Manager for ARC Queensland. Today, she leads a team of 34 people who describe her as an iconic figurehead with extensive experience and contagious energy. Over the years, she has driven process improvements both in Queensland and nationally, sharing her expertise across the broader business. Her advice that she would give her 1982 self starting out in this industry? "If you find yourself in a room full of people, try to focus on the fact that everyone is there for a reason. Engage in conversations, be yourself, and don't be afraid to contribute your thoughts and ideas. Remember, everyone is just a person, and you have every right to be present and valued in any situation."
