On Business of Home, our co-founder Jodie Fried takes us behind the scenes of her other creative pursuit, ceramics: "I’m deeply inspired by the beauty of the natural world and the honesty of natural materials, whether it’s the fibers in a rug or the earthiness of clay. There’s something mesmerizing about the nuance of tone and texture you encounter in nature. Those multitudes are impossible to fully replicate but I try to capture a sense of it in my work. Both rug-making and ceramics are ancient arts that I feel a deep connection to, and I strive to honor those traditions while creating pieces that feel meaningful. Ultimately, I want my work to give back – through its design, its usefulness, or its ability to be shared with and enjoyed by others." The devastating wildfires in Los Angeles have deeply impacted a community that holds a special place in our hearts. As the home of the Armadillo US head office and flagship showroom, and many of our loved customers and team members, LA means so much to us. To support those affected, including the heroic first responders, we have donated to the American Red Cross to aid in emergency relief efforts. We are also encouraging our team to volunteer on the ground as part of our commitment to stand with LA during this challenging time. The fires are still ablaze, and the fight to contain them continues. Recovery will take time, as the city works to rebuild and heal. Our company remains steadfast in our support, ready to help as new needs arise. We are inspired by the strength and resilience of the people of LA and beyond. Together, we can make a difference.
