Supported by Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, our graduates and Olympians recently visited Alice Springs, Katherine, Beswick, and Barunga in the Northern Territory to share their expertise with local coaches and students through coach courses and #HaveAGo school clinics. Highlights: 🏑 Hockey coaching course in Alice Springs 🏃♂️ Athletics coaching course in Katherine 🏀 Basketball, Athletics and Hockey #HaveAGo clinics delivered to Alice Springs, Katherine, Beswick and Barunga. The AOC is committed to developing, promoting and protecting the principles of Olympism and the Olympic Movement in Australia in accordance with the Olympic Charter. The AOC is committed to Australia's athletes and encourages the development of high performance sport through athlete support and funding initiatives. It is our responsibility to select, send and fund Australian Teams to the Olympic Summer and Winter Games, Youth Olympic Games and Regional Games. The AOC aims to promote, raise awareness of and encourage participation in sport for benefits of health, longevity, fitness, skill, achievement, social interaction, wellbeing and other benefits of exercise for all individuals in Australia. The AOC is dedicated to the education of Australia's youth and runs a number of programs through all levels of school, including the Olympics Unleashed program and the Australian Olympic Change-Maker program. The AOC is a non-profit organisation, independent of Government and Government funding other than contributions by State Governments to the Olympic Team Appeal. The AOC is an Incorporated Association whose members are the national bodies of sports on the Olympic program. State Olympic Councils represent the AOC in every State and Territory.

The Australian Olympic Committee has awarded nine Indigenous Olympians $5000 grants to recognise their efforts in Paris and assist their future performance. Two of the grant recipients, basketballer Alex Wilson and sailor Conor Nicholas, have also been appointed as Indigenous members of the AOC Athletes’ Commission. Welcome to the AOC team, Ellie Laing-Southwood GAICD Ellie will join the AOC as Chief of Communication and Media, beginning her new role late November 2024. Joining from the Property Council of Australia, Ellie is also serving her second term on the board of Sport NSW, the peak body representing the state’s sport and active recreation sector. Ms Laing-Southwood’s career includes significant experience in television journalism with Channels Seven, Ten, SBS and the ABC and she has previously lectured in journalism at Macleay College in Sydney.
